I wanted to upgrade from Tata Xeta (Petrol) to a bigger car with a more powerful engine. I was essentially looking for a diesel car. Since I was not sure whether to go for a Hatchback, Sedan or any other car, I started lots of internet research and shortlisted few cars:
Hyundai i20 Magna: Its an excellent looking car with plenty of features, but the price is on higher side. The price difference between petrol and diesel i20 Magna is about Rs. 1.4 Lacs which does not make any sense. However, I visited Hyundai Dealer (Capital Hyundai, Noida) and the response I got was very cold. Test drive vehicles were not available, the sales person was talking over him mobile phone most of the time. I decided to leave Hyundai out of my list.
Hyundai Accent: Good car, great price but again dealer's bad response led me to its exclusion. I heard that Accent can be discontinued anytime now.
Maruti Swift VDI/VXI: Long waiting period.
Maruti Dzire VDI/VXI: Long waiting period. As a buyer I can not wait for my car for 3-4 months, specially after I had sold my car. Both the cars are good and value for money though.
Tata Manza Multijet Aura: Good car, Interiors quality is worst in class and most importantly I have had terrible experience with Tata's service quality, so decided to skip it.
Fiat Punto Multijet Emotion: Extremely good looking car, I really admire it whenever it passes by. Unfortunately, service is given by tata which can not even manage their own cars properly.
Mahindra Xylo E4: Very specious, Comfortable, VFM car, nice interiors. Did not like gears and the car rolls alot on high speed. Still got it booked and applied for HDFC car loan. There were lots of confusion in pricing and features as browsers, website and sales person had diffirent things to tell. I feel business should be done with clarity, not confusion so decided to cancel my booking.
Ford Fiesta ZXI (TDCi): Nice car, very good engine, good drive... but it was going out of my budget. Maruti Suzuki SX4.
Finally, Maruti sales person suggested me to test drive SX4 VVT. I relactantly agreed, he came with the demo car withing an hour to my house and I went for a test drive with my wife and daughter. I really liked the car, its features, smooth gear, nice silent engine, big ground clearance, high seating position, space... over all
I was impressed with the car. After the test drive, I gave the cheque to the sales person and booked Maruti Suzuki SX4 VXI (my first big car) as he promised to deliver the car within 4-5 days. My HDFC loan got approved in 2-3 days and now I am waiting for the delivery.
