I have been driving my SX4 VXI since Jun 2010, it is a very good car with high ground clearance and comfortable driving position. The biggest issue with it is the fuel economy, since the beginning I am getting an average of about 6-7Kmpl. During the 1st service when I complained about this, the dealer mentioned that it takes time for the engine to open up and after about 1000km I should get a better average of about 9-10Kmpl . But unfortunately I have driven about 18000 km now and still am getting the same 6-7kmpl average.
Everytime the car goes for servicing I complain about this and they say that the average should get better and change the fuel filter and all.
Most of my driving is in Mumbai city and hence I understand and do not even expect an average of 15kmpl as claimed by the company but something around 10-11 kmpl would be good.
I own 2 other cars, a Jan 2010 Toyota Corolla Altis this car also goes through the same driving pattern in the city as my SX4 but that gives me a fuel economy of 9-10Kmpl. Another car my Honda Civic Mt which I bought in Dec 2010 also gives me an average of 9-10 kmpl.
Hence I am surprised that my other 2 cars which have a bigger engine capacity give me a better fuel economy then my SX4.
So I was wondering if the other owners of SX4 can let me know how much is the fuel economy they get in city driving like mumbai.
