Well to start with, the S-Cross is quite and underrated car for what it offers. Firstly, its no SUV and so, no SUV styling. But its made to rival against Duster and Creta that does make it fall short of the conpetition.

The S-Cross is an overgrown hatch, which does offer practically with good performance. The exterior looks quite bland for the most part, but the car does have a smart stance. The car is well proportioned and that does translate into good interior space as well. The headlamps are large and have pilot DRLs. The rear lamp design looks better and smarter than the front.

The inside greets you with a complete black cabin with good quality materials and decent fit and finish. The steering feels chunky and gripy, and the seats offer great support with good seat squab. The media player is touch screen which I personally dislike as it requires attention when fiddling with it which mag cause loss of road focus.

The rear seats offer great legroom and headroom, and there is enough space for 3 average adults. Also, the seats are cushiony, but not too soft( that one may have a sinked in feeling), and provide a relaxing position with the correct backrest angle. The boot of the S-Cross scores good marks with the large 350+ litres of volume space and thoughtfully designed to use the maximun of it.

The 1.6 DDiS is a gem of an engine and the engineers have done a great job of tuning it perfectly to mate it to the 6-Speed manual transmission. The car just rips off the start line with the word GO, and continues to keep up your smile all the way to the red line, courtesy the massive 320Nm of torque. The ride is very comfortable and silent for most part. However it does get a bit noisy with some engine leaking in at higher revs.

The car is a drivers joy and rewards the driver with great handling and driving dynamics. All in all a good package from the house of Maruti, but they do need to get the pricing right.
