:) I always wanted to buy a car which is known as ‘Indian’ car. Used M800 initially to get comfortable and used TATA Indica DLX for 3 years. Then its time to change the car. Swift Vdi was always on the top in the priority list. Though it is proven one on Indian roads, the waiting period and too many cars of the same variant on the roads worried me a little. The rear looks attracted me and of course the new series engine. After playing with couple of excel sheets which will help decide on Petrol Vs Diesel, :) , decided to go for petrol model. Of course, my average travel per day will be anywhere between 25-30 km only. Taken couple of test rides from Kondapur (Hyderabad) showroom. The demo car was always the Vdi model. I was impressed with the engine’s performance and the improved features (interior space, new dashboard). I like having many dials but here I have no choice (Ritz has all the controls displayed around the main dial behind the steering).
Had placed an order for 'Ritz Vxi (Glistening Grey') during mid-June. This particular color is new to Maruti and delayed by 3 weeks more than the other regular colors. The car was delivered in 3rd week of Aug. I have taken basic accessories from the showroom. Liked its performance in the first drive. Just completed 300 kms only as the traffic and roads around are not so encouraging.
The space inside is sufficient for 3 adults on the back. Power is just sufficient to pull it with 5 adults, I tried it in the heavy traffic of Hyd. I have been getting decent mileage before the I servicing is done, its around 12 kmpl. They promised me just above 15 in the city after sometime. As usual - the headlights and the horn are not that powerful :(. this could be improved by Maruti on all the cars I guess. Feel happy (no regrets) when some( or many!?) people around me appreciate the new looks of the car and the new color.
During this late rainy season, could not drive it on the highway...till now I could touch only 80km/hr on the city roads without much effort. 1200cc for such a car is decent power. I could feel the real pull when it is not loaded with 5 people. I think the new aerodynamic design helps to be fuel efficient, it is new emission standards compliant. I have not faced any issues with the car till now. Pickup is good, AC is powerful enough, though I have not tested with full load and more over it is the rainy season. I guess people who can appreciate the new design will be definitely appreciating the other good factors like new K-series fuel efficient engine, improved interiors (bigger, nicer dashboard), 60:40 split seat feature etc...
