I have been a proud owner of Ritz ZXI(Petrol) for 6 months. It has proved to be a total block buster. I’ll list the points which make me say it is awesome-
- Engine - 1.2L, aluminium core, 85PS@6000RPM, 113Nm@4500RPM The engine is powerful, light and delivers extremely good torque. This can be noticed in changing gears and pick-up in city traffic. The car behaves excellent in slow moving traffic.
I get engine noise and was worried about it but found that it happens all due to bad gear shift. Had to tune my gear shift for a while to get good smooth engine sound. 2. Space A Big mis-conception regarding Ritz is its space.
The space in Ritz is way beyond what it seems to be from outside. The rear legroom fits in a 6ft. passenger comfortably while a 6ft. passenger is in front seat. The rear seats are positioned much upright to provide comfort to rear passengers.
The width of the car is decent to fit in 3 avg. people in rear seat comfortably. The seating is not inclined towards back so there is less rolling for passengers on turning the car. The boot is not small. It is adequate to fit in good amount of luggage. The boot goes down a bit from the line of the rear bumper, so there is hidden extra space which we cant imagine from out.
Headroom is no way comparable to any hatchback. Max head room possible. Rear seat is 60:40 split seat. 3. Mileage 14kmpl with AC in bangalore. I am not a decent driver so I understand this mileage is way beyond what I expected. 4. Dashborad The instrument is not a cluster. Waterfall console is very ergonomic.
Ritz has a single dial of the speedometer. The other visual indications are all around it in a decent manner. The RPM meter is in the perfect spot. The music system is inbuilt and very easy to operating(needs a bit of time to adjust to). The buttons are not big n flat but round so you need to get adjusted to these. Music playback is very effective. The sound is very very loud at high volumes.
Steering mounted audio controls are way too good. Horn is a bit hard but I like it that way. I dont like horns which go on unnecessarily even at slightest touch. AC is easily operative as in all maruti vehicles. Level 1 of AC is enough. Max I could use is 3.brrrrr. 5. Others Vehicle ground clearance is high - 170mm and wheelbase is decent 2360. These 2 factors together keep the bump totally away from touching the underneath of the car. Steering is hard to operate but that too helps me as a very sensitive steering is what I don’t prefer.
It may be though a dislike for some. Outside mirrors are manually adjusted - electronic would have been good. Tyres are HUGE for a hatchback.185/70 R14. ZXI has all alloys and all tyres are tubeless. Wiper assembly is good in rains. Rear wiper covers 80% of the rear wind screen. rear defogger is absolutely a Robotouchss. very good. The tall tail-lamps are noticeable from far off.its a Ritz.
The rear fog lamp is low and very effective(comes on with headlamps).and car is easily judged in size from behind. The car performs well over long drives and within city. Also it is very stable on turns and curves in stability. Costs around 6.05 Lkhs in Bangalore. The car fetches discount of 20-25K from almost all dealers. The delivery time is within a week. The car is very practical and has a good blend of all necessary factors. The major thing people complain is the look(which I liked as is not boring and common).but I strongly suggest.sit in a Ritz.drive a Ritz.feel it completely around and then try complaining:).
