This is my first review. Before proceeding let me first tell you that I am tall guy (6'2") and fit athletic body. I currently own Maruti 800 and I hope u all can feel the irit I have in that car..... but I love my CABI very much... Since so many days I was looking for 1 CAR which has ample head - shoulder space and which could make me and my daad sit in front-back scenario (My dad is also 6'1 - and retrd Defence personal from BSF...). For this I tried WAGON-R (feel quite OK) and Swift (Not so spacious with front and rear space - as per my needs). Then I waited for RITZ to be launched. I have read in some previuos reviews of RITZ that the car would be spacious in interiors...
FInnally the day come when Maruti Suzuki launches RITZ.. Yesterday, on MAY 18, 2009 - myself along with one of my office collegue ( who is agin of my similar built) went to Competent Automobiles in gurgaon for the test drive of ritz.... Here is my observation on he car:
Looks--- Looks a compact of Toyota Innova and Santro+ A Star and Swift (from all angles). rate 8/10
Interiors--- Quite Ok but the RPM meter should have been at the centre rather than putting it on top (although it's on the opposite side as compared with A Star).. The dashboard is impressive and the most distinct feature is the location of GEAR HANDLE... It's mounted with the dashboard ( instead of it's ususal place at the bottom).. This feature is so handy and comfortable when u drive the Car. The gear shifting was too smooth and even the reverse gear is quite creamy too. Another feature for tall guys in this car is the headroom.. it's not less than SX4 in any contast - weather u sit in front or rear.. the headroom is same through out.. so no more headcrunches on bumpy road.
We are easily get in and move out of the CAR.. This makes the door comfort of the CAR at its best too.
The best feature is 60:40 Rear Seats Split ratio - for both the seats . Thus boot space is also not a issue for the traavelling purpose (atleast for the bags - if not for Suitcases). :)
Over all the impressive CAR in the Budget of 4-5 Lakhs..
COST:-
Lxi - 4, 12, 000 (approx)
Vxi - 4, 42, 000 (approx)
Vxi - with ABS - 4, 68, 000 (approx)
Zxi - Over 5 lakhs
Boot Space is just nearly more than Swift (when seats are Up) 232 Lts (SWIFT), 225 Ltrs (i10), 236 Ltrs (RITZ). probably with other aerodynamics this might get better--- but that’s what we have in our hand.
PROS:
Interior Space,
Sufficient Leg Room (for Both front and in rear),
Nice Interiors,
Position of the Gear Lever,
Nice and Broad side Mirros for better and clear views.
Fuel Efficieny (17 for Petrol and 21 for Diesel - as claimed by company)
Price Tag ( might not be some others)
BS-4 stage refined K12M Engine (First CAR in INDIA as per BS-IV standard)
Engine Bay is pretty much compact but airy as well.
RIDE quality at the Front.
CONS
Not that effected AC ( it took just slighly long to feel the cooling in rear - but works fine for front seating)
BUMPY RIDES( atleast in city driving where roads conditions in some remote areas are not gud).
Adjustable Neck Rest ( as some times they block the view while reversing the CAR).
The RPM Meter (it might distract some one or might not be for others).
Rear windscreen + thick C pillar restrict the rear view to the driver ( but now most CARS are coming with this sort of desing- i10 , i20 in particular and somewhat SWIFT as well)
No AIR BAGS in higher Diesel varients ( BIG MINUS ON CAR)
No ZDi VERSION
VERDICT:
The CAR is decent if you compare with SWIFT but way ahead in terms of Space and technicality if you consider other options like i10, i20, palio, getz, Aveo-UVA, etc... This will definately give heads on to some Swift buyeers as well as for the above mention CARS. The higher the Engine is, the mileage is the area where one sacrifices, but with RITZ, you can never feel on missing something sort of things. Compact engine just for better mileage. As per the person from Competent in Gurgaon, the delivery of the vehicle would be with in 7- 10 days depending upon Colors you select I hope to cover all the aspects in this review, however if missed.. let me know your query's as well.
