Dear readers,  As you know well about omni. I don't want to tell you this and that. I bought omni E 2012 on feb. and rarely used it for 1 year and after that I installed lovato gas kit with a tomestoo multi valve (in lovato multi valve having problem such as air inside the tank and 2 times input valve locked inside.

So I changed the multi valve only and till now didn't face any problem with tomestoo multi valve). and my vehicle reached 30k kms till now. the engine is 800cc with somewhat around 35bhp as you know the technical details.

The main reason that I bought this car for its space and can be used for all purpose. so I chose this car.

Pros:

The engine performance is good, high body from the ground, no touching ground even in high speed breakers even in full load of 9 big persons inside, mileage in petrol 15-16 kms avg in city and highways. and in gas it gives 350kms avg in city and highways for one domestic cylinder under the speed of below or on 70-75kmph. low maintenance, only regular oil changed and oil filter changed, I used acdelco engine oil the engine is very smooth, in idle mode you cannot hear your engine sound and once you crossed 70 kmph you don't know whether the engine is on or off. so smooth. its an MPFI engine so the noise is very much reduced when comparing to its earlier versions.

Cons: pick up is low automatically when overtaking other vehicles, the pick up is very slow and one should be very careful when overtaking, and handling is not up to the mark, in 40 kms speed in sharp turns omni is not stable and likely to topple. and brake is not so effective. the braking effect is lesser than my splender bike, I don't know whether all the omnis are alike or my omni only having this low brake.

I am using my omni only, wherever I go. and got back pain in long drives, had driven 23k kms in just 5 months and got full back pain. I couldn't stand even for 1 hour. there was no defogger at the time I purchased on feb 2012 but now it comes with factory fitted defogger. and due to low weight of the car, a strong wind pushes the vehicle side by side, so the car coming behind you will definitely think that you drink and drive and he slows down, gives horn and then overtakes - it is the funny part.

And in summer you hair will start to fall due to excessive heat inside even when you are riding. omni doesn't come with AC. and you cannot fit AC outside the showroom. as this is only 800 cc engine. even if you fit, it will highly affect the engine's performance and life. above 80 kms speed sudden braking is not possible, as the will skid and lose its balance. it is better to limit the speed to 70 kmph for safety purposes.

While driving in the ups and downs in the road, the car is too jumpy. so I filled tyre with nitrogen gas 40ps for all 4 tyres and it is smooth. the ups and downs I used to drive in 40 kms speed now I drive in 75 kms speed. it is really smooth. one of my friend suggested Michelin tyres offer more smooth and also the road grip is better.

Overall, the car is better when looking into fuel efficiency and low maintenance, and low price you it can carry 8 people at this cost... when comparing an suv 7 seater which will cost more than 7lac.

The only thing is, need to be very very careful due to handling and braking. sudden braking is good in straight road upto 40 kms speed.

Now I am planning to overhaul the brake system, because the brake is very very important for any vehicle. already did disc brake phasing, checked brake oil, checked for air lock. but still problem exists. I didn't understand how the world class manufacturer maruthi releases omni with such poor braking system. 3 incidents which happened when my brake completely effect-less.

  1. When I was driving at 90 kmph in highway, suddenly a motorist about to turn, I applied sudden brake, the vehicle almost went brake-free. and then I also didn't apply more pressure on the brakes due to high chance of skidding. so I just kept pressing horn. and was about to hit. luckily the motorist moved away from my path.

  2. When I was driving in the city, about 30 kms speed, one cyclist suddenly came on my way and applied full brake with lot of force. but only 40 percentage is the effect. I take right to avoid hitting him.

  3. This is recently happened. I was urgent to travel for 50 kms distance at night time and was crusing at some high speed and applied brake while turning, the brake is effect less. and managed to take the turn, due to night time, the road was clear.

If any omni owners having this type of brake problem, pls give me a suggestion. and if you want any more details feel free to write babu0008here@gmail.com
