Well, I have been thinking of writing a review on the service offered by Maruti Suzuki for quiet a long time. Now here I am trying to put down what I feel about it. The fact is that even after being the market leader in India for such a long time the service offered by Maruti is pathetic for a market leader. I own a Maruti SX4 and have only got it serviced at the same service centre which the dealership runs from where I bought my car.

Below are some of the incidents which irritated me a lot.

1) Right when I bought the car I felt that the front passenger was hard to close and u need to slam it to close it. The mechanic brought a hammer to resolve this problem and first said that don't do anything it will get better with time. Once they attempted and resolved it but then the symmetry of the doors was lost. So basically they didn't have a clue to resolve the issue.

2) Maruti service stations don't use the seat covers & interior covers which Hyundai uses even for Santro. The result is that the Beige interiors are always soiled with oil stains on seat fabrics as well as beige interiors. all please land on deaf ears.

3) If you go with any problem then the first thing the mechanics will say is that leave it as it is and it will get better with time. Strange way of repairing cars.

4) No feedback loop to Maruti R&D and no intent to repair issues with cars after models are launched. SX4 has issues with dashboard rattle, and bumpers are too soft to offer any resistance on impact. Even the paint job on a 7 lakh car is such that is gets scrathced so easily and is not good. Service centre people know this but Maruti hasn't done anything to rectify these issues.

5) Lack of professional attitude and the urge to serve. The service centre staff don't know how to manage the customers and are too pathetic. Hyundai is way ahead in this.

6) Service given is not proper. My car met with an accident and I got it repaired through the same service centre. Bad job of painting, though they accept but every time I complain they will rub rubbing compound make it shine and return it to me.

So in a nutshell I would say that Maruti is still going on its government ways and it is not doing anything innovatively.

The thing is that since it is able to sell cars at low prices with good mileage but for premium cars the quality does matter. Also if Maruti is not able to handle the servicing network then why bother, ask Mr. Jagdish Khattar's Carnation to handle that which they will do at far better levels. So wake up Maruti management lest the day wheel is re-invented and then Maruti brand dies.
