I bought the Ertiga ZDI 3 years ago and writing the review now so that I can do justice with it.
I have a big family and none of them own a car so I wanted to buy a 7 seater to accommodate my family's commutation needs. But for a middle class family, spending 12-14 Lakhs on a car is a very big deal(cost of insurance, fuel, maintenance on top of it). The option of Ertiga initially excited me because of its affordable price range and Maruti-Suzuki brand. After the test drive whole family liked the car so we decided to go for it. Due to color choice(brown) it took me about 3 months to get the delivery which was 2 months earlier than I was promised. We decided'Ertiga' over'Swift' as a little extra money was buying us a lot more. 3 years later I am glad that I did. Based on my experience with car I am noting down some good and bad of the car. Hope these would help.
Good(What I liked):
Space: With standard 7 seats, there is plenty of room inside the cars for most family needs.
Fuel Economy: Even after 3 years of running I am able to get around 20 kmpl from my car which is really good.
Engine Performance: 3 years of rigourous use(50, 000 Kms on all possible types of roads) and engine performance is still the same as of 3 years ago which is actually a good metric for me for any car.
Looks: Car's exterior looks really nice(I have a brown color which I chose as it goes with the interior) and Interiors are also very appealing with almost all possible options one may want.
Service: Maruti-Suzuki has the best service network in the country so you will never have to struggle for parts or service options.
Bad(What I did not like):
Power: For a loaded 7 seater you may wish the engine was a little more powerful(say 1500cc).
Trunk Space: With all the seats up, trunk feels small(It's a lot bigger if you drop the last row seating down though).
Last Row: Last row lacks sufficient leg space so it is best suited for kids and smaller bodied people.
In a nutshell:
It is a very decent family utility vehicle with enough space to fit your extended family, good fuel economy to keep pressure off your wallet and appropriately priced to fit in a middle class family budget. Buy the car if you want to stay in a moderate budget and want a good 7 seater car. Don't buy if you are looking for a Sports utility vehicle. This one screams family and there is not much sporty about it(except maybe looks a little bit).
