Maruti Ertiga, in my opinion, is worth every rupee you pay for it.
Its been a year since we bought a red Ertiga Vdi.
Yes, its bumpy.
Yes, it has a big turbo lag.
Yes, its not the prettiest car to look at.
And also,
Yes, when its fully loaded with 6-7 people: not a lot of space for luggage.
But now, here's the BUT,
Its a car that will surprise you and try to win your heart every chance it gets. For what you pay, what you get is this specious 5+2 seater for the same price as a luxury hatch or those crappy so called sedans.
It has a small 1.3 fiat sourced engine, but lets not forget that it's turbo charged and it's a big turbo which produces 94bhp at 6000rpm, 89bhp at 4000rpm of power for a car which weighs around 1.26 tons which is pretty decent. Imagine when you are on your own, the rush with figures like 0 to 60 in 5 to 6 seconds and 0 to 100 in 13 to 14 seconds . It's capable of going past Innovas like they are standing still. Just have to maintain the right rev range that is at 2000 rpm which is when the turbo kicks in. Must also tell you, it doesn't corner like a proper sedan or those luxury hatches.
Now with your family, your friends, your in laws, it turns into a family vehicle for short as well as long trips. The amount of space you feel inside with the help of those massive windows and light interior colors is incredible, mind you, a lot of heat gets in through those windows and also that beige interiors gets real dirty real fast.
And lets not forget, you can fold the seats down when you want to move a lot of stuff around.
One more thing to add- our biggest obsession - Mileage.
Which in my experience is as follows:
Highway-16 to 18 KMPL with AC
City-14 to 15 KMPL with AC
The numbers varied as my mood varied;)
To round it all up, I agree to all also those people who criticize this car for all that it cant do
lets also see what it can do.
Always prioritize your expectations, which ever car it may be, before making the big jump.
