The Baleno is offered with both the petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol motor produces 84PS and 115Nm, while the 1.3-litre diesel pumps out 75PS and 190Nm. Besides the standard five-speed manual with petrol and diesel engine options, the petrol can also be had with an optional CVT(continuously variable transmission) automatic gearbox. It is available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and in seven colour options. It rivals the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the VW Polo. The premium hatchback also crossed the one lakh domestic sales milestone in almost a year. Recently, Suzuki has announced that the Baleno will be competing in the 2017 World Car of the Year awards(WCOTY). It will be pitched against six other new rivals in a brand new category – Urban Car – in the 2017 .
