Indian always loved small car and a small call with a powerful engine and good fuel economy has always been worshiped. I had always been impressed by alto but its mediocre engine was the biggest turn off. I wish I could install swift engine in alto. I had been waiting for a car with alto's proportion and fuel efficiency but with a powerful engine.


A powerful alto was for long in the pipeline but launch was awaited. Finally MS listened to everyone's prayer and launched the incarnation of its bestseller.


Few Changes in k10 :




  1. More powerful 67BHP 998cc K-series engine.(Same one used in A star , wagon R etc.)




  2. Slightly longer than previous one , 15 cm longer, ensures better legroom.




  3. New gearshift.




  4. Bigger tyres.




  5. New headlamp and grill.






On road price(Pune ) : 3.7 L for VXi


Few turn offs ---- Must be considered..




  1. Car wheelbase is same as the old alto, sadly.




  2. car width is same as the old car, pathetic. Could have been made couple of cm wider to prevent elbowing.




  3. In fact entire interior of the car is same except the improved legroom for rear passengers. Very sad.






Everyone was wishing that also will have new and refreshing interiors like A Star but a big disappointment.


Now the driving experience...


I had the chance to drive k10 for a substantial time coz I was one of the very first customers to inquire abt it.


Believe me, this car is a rocket hatch. 67 BHP coupled with an incredible low weight of 780 kg makes this car a lightning. But fill this car with 5 people and it starts showing the shortcoming of 3 pot engine.


This car has oodles of torque at all the rpm so city driving is a real fun.


0-100 timings match with that of swift. isnt it incredible????


This car needs to improve on ride quality. suspension is bit stiff and tyres dont provide good feedback at high speeds. I recommend to go for alloy wheels with wider tyres.


There is lot to talk about fuel efficiency. Though the k10 is much powerful and torquey than the alto, fuel efficiency has actually improved over the old one.


In city we can expect a fuel efficiency of 16-17 KMPL. and on highway can easily give 19KMPL, albeit without AC.


The steering is light though and at low speeds, works like dream. Ac is same old poweful one which cools the car in a moment.


The new cable gearshif is an improvement over the old one but still notchy, afar cry from i10 or spark.


To sum up this review, I must say this this a great improvement over the older car. If u like the old alto, u will definitely like the new one. But if u r looking for comfort and high speed cruising then this car will disappoint you.
