I just took a test drive of my friends vehicle of Maruti Alto LX. I already have a Maruti 800 Standard Deluxe which is around 4 years old.
My personal opinion is that there is no great difference between the 800 and the Alto for the price comparison between the two.
The Alto which costs more than the 800 does not justify in terms of its cost.
As regards comfort and room space it is same as that of the 800. Infact the newer version of 800 with the 5 gear drive is as equally good and comfortable as the Alto.
Maruti has launched Alto in Europe ( of course at a much higher price).
For Indian roads the 800 is a better version as compared to Alto, in terms of fuel efficiency, maintenance and overall performance at a cheaper price.
