Maruti Alto Lxi “Lets Go”. Review on Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LXi

Very much true to its punch line. Nimble and responsive. When I wanted to buy a small car I had three cars in my mind Santro, Indica and Maruti Alto. I didn’t wanted to go for Maruti 800 as I wanted a new look, I did a lot of research on the Net, came to know Santro costs more than Alto and spares are on the higher side although the car is equally good. I also had Indica Diesel in my mind but most part of my commute to work I am traveling in an Indica and even the color Indica cars reminds me of my office cab. I did a test drive my cousins Alto and I fell in love with it.  Also the Maruti products are know for it less maintenance cost and availability of Service even nook and corner.

Got my Alto wine red color on 21st January, I must admit that  for this color you have to do lot of washing, even the slightest dust will be seen on the body. Well considering the Budget car the interior are mono tone dash board with 2 spoke steering wheel and a big Speedo meter console with a Digital odometer and Trip meter. There are Fuel gauge and Temperature gauge to the right side and lacks Tachometer, at least they should have provided in Lxi model. Internal space and driver seating position is little cramped and drivers left arm will touch the person sitting on the left side, well that’s what you get in a small car segment which does not have a tall boy design for which you will get adapted after few days. In the rear seat they have given 3 safety belts and can accommodate 2 people sitting comfortably and 3 people with bit of inconvenience. Rear leg room is sufficient for normal built people but if you are above 5’ 10” then you may find it difficult.

796 cc Engine is smooth and Responsive, with manual 5 speed all synchromesh Gears.Alto has a main Engine control by 32 bit computer which controls the fuel injection and all other sensors. AC is very good and cools efficiently but hogs engine power, Well it is a inherit ant issue with maruti cars. The front suspension is McPherson Strut with torsion type roll control device and rear is Coil spring gas filled shock absorbers with three link rigid axle and isolated trailing arms. Suspension will work fine for small ditches and bumps but you have to slow down for a larger and deeper ditch.

Alto has a Turning radius of 4.6 Meters and Ground clearance of 160mm. Having a power steering feels very peppy and will help you coming out of tight spots. Its helps you parking with ease. The tyre size 145 / 80 R12 is ok for speed upto 100 kmph. But you need bigger profile tyres with alloy for higher speeds.

All together this car is for first time car buyers with budget in mind, this is a top end car for budget conscious buyers. Good value for money, and peace of mind.
