The car ...... Review on Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 LXi

This is my latest updation on my ALTO.

Recently we all went to Thiruvannamalai(165kms from Chennai). After temple visit, we are returning to chennai. I have scheduled my journey for 3 hours with average speed, as I have to attend an important meeting with client therafter.

After crossing 65kms in 60 minutes, our journey came to halt, as there was road block due to accident on the highway. It took the highway patrol team to clear the block by 45 minutes. Then it's time for me to check the power of the ALTO.

Practically I zoomed the higway in an average of 120 -125 kmph speed. To reduce the stress over the engine, I have switched of the A/c. We are 3 inside the car. Believe me I crossed the 95 km stretch(Tindivanam to tambaram) in just 60 minutes. Not a single scorpio or any latest car able to reach the same destination at that time. Though some verna & dzires overtake me at one stretch, I have easily crossed them in the congested area, where they are helpless.

The highlight is that no co-passenger felt that I am over-speeding, infact they enjoyed the trip. Not all times I used to drive this. On special circumstances only, these type of driving goes. The point which I wish to communicate is that ALTO is a beautiful small car with all necessary ingredents and limitations. It is only in our hands(ofcourse on our legs also!) how we are using it.

After parking the vehicle, I have a glance over the vehicle at 5 feet away. Rleaxed look of the car(after under stress for 60 minutes) conveyed the message that " Big is not the best always and small is not the least always" .

So only I call this car as "The Car".

I can proudly say that I have great passion for driving. For last 10 years of my drive, I have covered almost 30000km/year in an average. I have changed my vehicles once in a year or two. After owning Amby, Omni, Alto, WagonR, I returned to Alto Lxi for its sheer performace for its value.

Pros:

In an ALTO Lxi:

The power steering in this vehicle is one of the finest even when compared to some costly sedans etc. You can zOOm inside the city traffic(Really I mean it!) like an AUTO, and that;s why they probably would named as ALTO(sounds same!)

Vision for driving is perfect, either towards front or rear or having side views without an exclusive side mirror. That's great in this car.

A/c is the most chilling point of the car. It chills like anything, but you have to sacrifice the power for it. The pick up drastically reduces. This is great negative point if you are having the habit of fast driving.

The luggage space is quit good enough for a middle class family for long trips, or shifting any gas cylinder to your home while borrowing from others on needful times etc.

The stability of the car is another best feature. This can be felt in real if you drive 100kmph average speed for 1 hour in a santro or WagonR. In both these tall boy vehciles, although the vehicle is having 1000+ cc under the hood, we have to drive very cautiosly at 100kmph, as the stability greatly depends on the road top surface. Any longitudinal undulations will effect badly and results body shaking. But in ALTO, simply drive 100kmph without fear, as the stability is same. Also the mileage will not affect badly(even at 100kmph constant speed I got 18.3 km/litre without A/c.

Conclusion:

ALTO Lxi is really the best car if you requires real power steering+ stability+ mileage+ 2 adults only using it.
