My A-star lxi it arrived in Jan after wait of about one month at Automotive, Nagpur. Initially, after the booking, I had been caught between wars - A-star vs. I10. Its lack of boot space, leg room etc. and I were sick – what if my decision goes wrong? My initial assessment of A-star after TD was that it suited my requirements.
I found absolutely no problem whatsoever with the rear leg room (as pointed out by its adversaries) after suitably adjusting front seats and also noticed that its boot space shall take care of my needs. Latter it turned out that I carried 200 kg (four sacks of 25 kg each) of rice the other day in the boot space without folding back seat. For those moving outstation, it would easily carry three mid sized bags. Didn’t drive much except Sats and Suns, mostly city drives.
Recently I took it on excursion to Kanha National Park (260 kms) from Nagpur. This was its maiden venture beyond city limits and my experience has been amazing - exceptional handling, stability, suspension, acceleration and braking. Importantly, A-star gave mileage of 19.37 km/l (90% AC on). Discounting idling time of 15-20 minutes with an engine on at a railway crossing on a bypass road, driving some bad stretch of 30-35 km (around Nainpur) in 2-3 gear, 19.37 km/l taken sounds great to my ears. It seems this car has good blend of power and FE. I am now beginning to feel that I made a sensible choice. Guys A-star certainly rocks!
