I brought Maruti A Star ZXI on 1st November 2009 after going through all comments in websites. It was told that there is no rear space & no luggage space. I feel these all comments are only partially true.
I have test driven Tata Vista, Hynduai I 10 , Spark , Wagon R before taking final decision on A-Star. I was using Maruti Alto LX for 4 years. I WANTED TO UPGRADE TO A 1000CC CAR. I found Alto Lx to be lacking in performance while using AC. Otherwise Alto is excellent car.
I began searching for next best car, which is superior in all aspects & good for city use. I made up my mind that it should be minimum 1000 CC car, with good pick up & powerful engine & still give good mileage like Alto. I wanted maximum features in Car. At the same time it should be value for money.
My usage is 99% in City. In last 2 years I haves 2 times Alto for long distance journeys. If Luggage was more I used carrier. I was very clear that usage will be maximum in city & new car should perform well in city.
I checked A Star. I am 5.1 in height. I checked rear space when I was driving. It was ok. Rear space is manageable for city use & as I have told, my journey in Highways is minimum.
Afterwards I checked Indica Vista. I felt ladies may not be comfortable in driving it. I checked Spark. It was a decent car, but it didnot gave comfort of A-Star. Next I checked I 10. Rear space & luggage space is definitely more than A-Star (More by 10 % in rear leg room & luggage space was definitely more).
I wanted to go to top end model but cost I have to pay 1.2 Lakhs more than A Star ZXI. I thought while going in long distance I can take big taxi with driver. My objective is small city car with max features with less burden on my pocket.
So I decided for A star ZXI. After driving A star no car gave me that city driving comfort.
I like A-Star because:
- Driving comfort is best in city use.
2.Pick up is very good.
- Mileage I am getting 12KM with AC ( Covered 700 Kms)
4.For 1.2Lakhs less burden I got all features ot top end model of I 10
5.Luggage room & rear leg room comfort is enough for me.
6.EBD works very well
7.looks are good.
8.It is easy to resell Maruti cars with true value(No headache of follow up)
9.Audio is exceellent.
AC is good.
My wife liked its cute looks.
12.No worry when Maruti back up is there.
If luggage room was more it would have been most sought after car. But practically for city use I think no car can give any competition within 4.63 Lakhs budget.
I feel I have got full value for money. Others may have different opinions. For my requirements I have got best car. I dont hesitate in recommending this car. As per my friends Maruti spares cost is less than Hynduai or any car makers. I feel cost of ownership also matters in our purchase decision.
Before any one buys I suggest them to take a look at all factors & make their own decision.
Finally I am a proud owner of Maruti A Star ZXI.
