VFM MUV. Review on Maruti Eeco

I personally own a Tata Indigo and went to test the Eco as a viable second car option for our family outings.After the test yesterday I was relatively impressed. The engine feels good and lugs along nicely with the A/C on. The space and ride quality are also good. Turning radius is also manageable for a car of this size and makes driving easy.

However, the fact that even the top end version doesn't come with power steering was a shocker. The vehicle is big and you certainly need a Power Steering esp. while parking it in tight spots. And its really sad considering the fact that this is one thing you cant get fitted outside. Secondly, the looks are not very charming. It looks a bit too boxy and a few curves here and there would have done a world of good. Right now it looks like a mini bus! Would have liked a few more color options as well. The quality of the interiors also looks agricultural but considering the price point, I am ignoring this. Another concern is the size and width of the wheels; they are rather small and thin. Would have liked bigger and fatter tyres for a vehicle of this size.

All in all, its a decent, practical family car which offers good value for money. Though nothing as compared to the other MUV's (like Innova, Xylo, Sumo Grande and even Bolero), the car is certainly positioned with a unique value proposition.
