Food Review- Market Café’ · By Rupali Dean Market Café, in the upscale Khan Market is located on the 2nd floor at number eight, tucked into an interesting corner. The Café's informal interiors give it a very relaxed feel making it a perfect place to unwind over a nice meal. Boasting of rooftop seating with a splendid view of nature and greenery surrounding the very busy market, it is an ideal place to enjoy a nice cup of warm latte or a strong cappuccino on lovely foggy winter evenings.

The music played is very soothing and soft. Coming to the food on offer is a mix of Mediterranean and Mexican flavors and Market Café is known to be innovating and adding new dishes to the menu. The menu offers a great selection of bakes roasts and grills. The all-new menu at The Café blends in old favorites with some great new items to enjoy a nibble, a snack or a complete meal. It also serves healthy breads from its in-house bakery that offers, 5-grain loaf, whole-wheat loaf, bagels; oatmeal and soya, lavash that trust me are all really well made. My favorite is the Lavash with pickled aubergines.

An entire new sandwich section has also been added, non-vegetarian’s can choose from a grilled marinated chicken sandwich in panini, pan fried fish sandwich in toasted ciabatta or spice lamb sandwich in garlic bread and vegetarians have an option of grilled vegetables with sun-dried tomato in focaccia or grilled cottage cheese and pickle mushroom in whole wheat pita. The meze platter here is worth a try. Reccomendations also go for the Rosemary and honey glazed chicken with pan-roasted vegetables and the Chicken Tagine; Moroccan style chicken broth with traditional spices and saffron, served with couscous, the vegetarians Iam sure would love the Veg version.

Only thing we didn’t much care was the Pizza, the chef I guess forgot to add the salt and hence was a put –off. “The Cafe also has plenty of options in Health food for the calorie conscious, in keeping with today's requirement of light cuisine. One can also lounge around on the terrace and enjoy a hookah, the choice of flavors are orange, strawberry, apple, mint, apricot and cappuccino. Old favorites like molten chocolate cake, blueberry cheesecake, roasted walnut, Baklava and chocolate tart are still a part of the new menu”, shares Suman Chatterjee, restaurant Manager. Interestingly apart from the great food and ambience, Market Cafe promotes art through various exhibitions and shows allowing their premises to showcase the talent of the budding artist.

If you are a busy workaholic or a net surfer, the Market Café’ gives you a choice to mix work and pleasure being the only standalone Wi-Fi friendly café’ in Delhi. The great news is that the Market Café also offers outdoor catering services with a very elaborate menu and an organized setup. To end on a guilt free sweet note go for the low-fat and egg-less desserts or simply stick to Molten chocolate cake, Grandmothers cinnamon apple crumble pie, Roasted walnut and chocolate tart, Brownies, Baklava or the so delicious Gooey chocolate cake.

Service is impeccable and the restaurant is very reasonably priced. Another must try are the Hookahs on the terrace with a choice of flavors – orange, strawberry, apple, mint, apricot and cappuccino. All in the entire place is certainly worth a visit.
