Sudden shooting nerve pain started in the back towards left leg, which used to last for few minutes or hour initially, which forced me to see an orthopedic dr, yoga centers with series of prescriptions about calcium, vitamin D, exercises.etc. But nothing helped, finally x-ray report pointed towards an extra mass in pelvis area. I got few pelvis scans done, which was initially diagnosed as ovarian cyst. At last I did further research and consultation which lead to final diagnosis of "shwannoma"(nerve tumor on left obturator nerve). Dr. Somshekar advised the right set of procedure at the 1st visit itself, I was reluctant to accept it & was thinking that he is arrogant not willing to listen to me. I did lot of research and found that it is a rare kind of tumor, not common to diagnose and treat in India. I seeked help from John Hopkins, they were ready to assist during surgery as well.
Dr. Somshekar was confident that he has dealt with the similar case in past but I wasnt ready to believe it as it was aligned with my findings. I was wrong, it was his confidence, knowledge and expertise, I had undergone a successful surgery by him(which lasted around 8-10 hours in OT) but today I am able to resume a normal life. Thanks to Doctor Somshekar and his team. Though there were some hick ups during follow-up visits, waiting time and so on but it was all worth it.
I heard the similar feedback from other patients too, who had traveled all the way from MP, Bhopal to Bangalore such for the treatment from Dr. Somshekar. Its because of doctors like him, people still say Doctor is a God who can save your life.
