I had very bad experience with Manipal hospital recently. My mother was serious, she had acute bleeding in middle of night, we got panic and rushed to manipal. junior doctor seemed to be extremely cool abt it, when asekd what has happened and what will be the course of action, he appeared clueless and less confident and insisted on admitting the patient.
I told him to inform the senior doctor who has been treating my mother since many months, he said we can not call the doctor, we will put the patient on support system and wait till the doctor comes in morning. anyways even as my mother situation was going from bad to worse. they were not bothered. we had no choice then to wait, next morning doctor cam at 11 and suggested some tests and procedures. Manipal hospital staff works at its pace no matter how much critical is the case, fine then in the evening the test and procdures were carried out, no one came to visit the patient again.
Next day was Sunday again no one turned up, nursing staff was careless. they had no idea when doctor will visit, whether he will visit or not . anyways doctor came in evening 4 o'clock just to tell us that she has to undergo one more procedure and for that again you will have to stay for one more day. no reason was given as to why the procedure can not be carried out on same day. on Monday doctor comes at 12 o'clock and procedure carried out at 2 , and once the procedure is done, no one was bothered to visit the patient and inform what were the findings, nurses kept telling us that Junior doc will speak to u, but that never happened when asked for discharge, nurses told Junior doc has told for discharge. I myself went looking out for the junior doc, senior doc is unapproachable and asked him.
And finally we were discharged. one thing I noticed manipal hospital has some setting wth doctors and they asks the patient to remain for 3-4 days somehow, doc will insist and advice some tests and try to hold the patient for min 3 days, then they are not interested in patient., for these 3 days they will be giving some reason and later when it comes to discharge they are just too cool, no one would be bothered abt the patient then.
i would advice everyone not to go to manipal hospital
