Writing a delayed review .I started going to Dr Shobha Rani (who has more than 25 yrs experience .. got this info from her profile on manipal site) and her supporting Doctor Modhulika at Manipal Hospital from my first month itself. This was after my friend recommended her .

Being my first Pregnancy , I had many many doubts , surprises and questions ...So everytime I visited her , I used to take out my list of queries.Initially she used to answer me only queries I asked , no extra advice, Infact I used to think what a khadoos Doctor ;-) , Actually everything was going normal .. until for some issues in between , so nothing much as advice was expected.Infact she does her job well and that is what is required, so other stuff hardly matters...

She was always available when I called her on phone. But the Admins/Front office Ladies there used to make my call go round and round the hospital from eye deptt to ortho...

Admins are really junk there.I have faced lots of issues with them. They have once lost my Ultrsound report, lost my Health check report , Sent me to a Dr Manjula Shivshankar's Asst Dr. saying she is Manjula Shivshankar and till now I do not know who is Dr Manjula and who that Asst Dr was... And more over the Administration head Mr Basavaraj is a Nasty Soul , he uses foul langauge and more over he cross questions the sufferer whether is they committed some mistakes that their admins behaved in rude fashion...Strange ...no customer orientation. Infact he also supports rude behaviour and wrong actions done by his Admins .Ex: He didnt listen to my complain that no Dietician has come , your admins have not sent any , Instead he immediately reported anything junk about the Duty doc to Dr Shobha Rani saying " Dr Shobha Rani has not arranged for proper medical attention..".I couldnt make out a connection between my complain and duty doctor.Strange & Junk Fellow...The folks at admission desk also have "Zero" knowledge on facilites in their different type of rooms. The insurance interface folks presented half the bill to insurance company and asked me to pay rest...On what basis they did that , God knows.Actually there is no end to their junk management.

Anyways... The day my delivery was planned , the duty nurse was horrible , she gave me liquid diet very late (10:30pm) inspite of my being admitted in evening itself, that was almost negligible (one small cup soup) , I kept on asking if more could be given , but she tried to tackle the situation saying "u are the only person who feels hungry .How much do you eat..." I felt like kicking her out of room. Then finally another nurse came saying there is no restriction on liquid diet , but canteen has closed, so my husband had to get some.

My delivery was normal and handled nicely by my doctor.Infact it was a bandh during those days and my doctor assured me she will be there anytime required.

This is a very nice gesture that my Doctor showed.Infact that just built more trust and confidence in her.

I also know of the another Doctor(simply dont want to name her) in same deptt , who never there personally during the visits and delivery is also handled by her supporting docs, I dont understand then why do we pay the bill in her name... So I avoided that doc initially itself...

After I was in room with my baby happily , my doctor gave me some lifesaving advice , but beware of the nurses. They get any strength medicine , just check twice with them and if possible with your doctors. Also beware of the pharmacy , if you go ask for medicine of certain name , they give same name but may be a a P or C different at end added or changed or removed , when u ask them it is different medicine , they answer "it is same na Sir"  , how can they do that , it actually changes the whole medicine...

Cost part : 65K , but was paid by my insurance company.(Strangely the medical charges also go up with the room rates... Manipal is a money s*cking hospital)

Finally...Doctors are good ...Beware of admins , receptionist , nurses and the pharmacy....

My Advice :

1 .Do ask for reviews on Docs before deciding on one , that may save some problems.. after all it is your life .. your health .. and only u are responsible for it through out your life.

  1. Do ask questions to your health provider when in doubt after all it is your life .. your health .. and only u are responsible for it through out your life.
