Many doctors in Manipal and Apollo Hospitals are medical tourism doctors and surgeons. They are former NRI's who have learned some small medical skills abroad along with an accent! Once back in India(out of their own volition) they are keen to make the same kind of money that they used to make abroad. They turn out to be a menace not only to the foreigners(who come to India for medical treatment and operations in order to save some costs because of the cheaper living in India as compared to abroad) but also to resident Indians. These ex-NRI doctors and surgeons are mostly crooks and use unscrupulous means as they not only conduct unnecessary medical tests and operations on foreigners but also on unsuspecting poor and middle-class Indians who believe everything these NRI doctors say as they(these doctors) put unfounded fears in the patients minds by suggesting surgeries and treatments worth lacs of rupees when they are not at all required in the first place.
These doctors modus operandi is to hold free medical camps(mostly in small towns and villages) where people are not so educated. Here they examine normal and even healthy patients who flock there(since examination is free) and then put fears and doubts in their minds by slowly trying to convince them to carry out unnecessary medical tests, treatments and surgeries thereby monetarily benefiting not only these doctors but also the fancy hospitals they are attached to. Watch out and identify these ex-NRI doctors and don't become a victim.
