I have become habituated of writing prerelease prophecies about the movies. Last time I did for Black. Here I again write a small section for the second most awaited movie of the year.
Why should we look for 1857 The Rising:
1) This is the first feeling of nationalism.
Mangal Pandey is the first man who gave the concept of Indian-ness in modern India. And this is him due to which we find ourself independent after long struggle till 1947.
Mangal Pandey is least sung hero of Indian history...kudos the National Indian Congress Party who has tormented & elevated the history for their own benefits.
Hardly anyone today knows that this real hero due to which India is free..belonged to which place, whereabouts of his family etc. Now this is the time to now a bit unbiased about the real hero! We must thank Amir Khan and Ketan Mehta for this!
2) Amir Khan: He has been an excellent and quality actor who has constantly delivered significant movies, entertaining as well as carrying social messages. Last time we got him with DCH and Lagaan. Now we are almost thirsty to see the most capable and versatile actor of current generation( after Ajay Devgan perhaps).
3) Chances are their....
A huge amount of money has been pumped into the movie. The director is Ketan Mehta.
From directorial chair side you may get disappointed with the movie. The movie may have grand sets and treatment but may lack the emotions and punch. Since Amir Khan is there we may expect that he help the director to get better thing. This guy really makes difference. See Lagaan and thereafter Swades! Same director but different punch>Amir effect.
4) Obviously the camera effect is very good in the movie.
5) I have not heard the song still so no comment over it.
6) Black queen Rani Mukerji: I think after watching her in Black, every one would have become a huge fan of this lady who is in this movie again. Rani has made us distaste other contemprory heroines!
Still the movie depends highly on few factors and it is running on thin line. 1857 has exactly equal chances to hit the dust or get the cream!
The movie's biggest risk is it's cost. It goes more than 80 crores rupees!!!! And the director is Ketan Mehta. I suspect the movie would be able to recover the amount as the post june releases are higher than prerelease in trems of budget too.
I am waiting for the movie and will post the final review as soon as I watch it in CINEMA HALL!
