Holla dudes !

Rehman always comes up with situational tracs wich end up uplifting ( nore often than not ) heightening the experience of watching that particular movie....

He attempts that same with 1857 : the rising ( aka mangal pandey in hindi )

the OST bears a distinct touch of the mutiny which it seeks to depict .. without going overboard ... something wich happened with sarkar .... no screechy violins !! Apparently the music has been recorded at Prague .. sound engineering and production is absolutely from the top drawer ; also consistent is the use of authentic indian percussions wich add quite another dimension to the music .

Everyone wud hav by now watched the '' mangal mangal '' promo in the theatres ... quite a treat for our senses ... kailash kher does quite a rustic take on attempting to narate the tale of Mangal Pandey and succeds without a doubt .. infact for many i'm sure this is the only noteworthy song whilst the rest r situational songs ... no stylish addons by kailash though ... total folk indian ishtyle .. though rehman still doesnt leave his synthesiser here ...but it sounds gr8 !

mai vari vari is a song wich siuts Kavita Krishnamurthy to a T ... it is a mujra she delivers with seasoned ease ... in fact she seems to hav improved ... without doubt the second best track on the cd ..

holi re .. frankly dissapoints ! it is a typical rehman song with a dandiya beat , which

i would gulp down in an instant .. so wat's wrong here ? the enrire chorus .. sound eeriengly similar to the ram ravan song from Swades ... otherwise njoyble .. but tell me who was celebrating holi by singing such a poilshed raga based holi song even back in the 19th century ?

Rasiya rocks ..... it's rumoured to depict lovemaking scences btw ameesha and toby stephens ( the villian from die another day ) ... I read sumwhere dat it draws heavily from a ''Daud'' song ... I hav only hrd the title track ... so I cant comment .. but this one in 1857 is absolutely rockin .. sung very seductively with a consistent and catchy rythm pattern consisting of some acoustics as well !!!

only goes to show ..classy operators borrow from their previous creations .. but deliver class nevertheless ...

takey takey .. is about the bazaar .. where everthing can be sold .. sukhwinder does a decent job without being being good ... u will recognize his familiar song of singing and wonder if he has anything else to offer after chaiya chaiya... he has been singing like that for ages .. kailash kher and the '' baul'' shine in their small parts .... good song if u ignore sukhwinder's idiocracies ... stic wid it u mite like it ... and yes I hav no problens wid takey takey being repeated thruout the song ... we all know that rehman relies heavily on loops and rythm patterns that hook on to ur ears after a few rounds .

Al madath maula is a sufi composition wich is without doubt situational and woud demand engaging visuals to keep guys from a puff .. but even out of context it is melody par excellence ... one could say it sounds like '' haji ali '' .. but hey ... it's supposed to .... these songs originating from masjid do hav an endearing but consistent feel to them ..

Agni and Atma r mangal mangal but in different situations .. and r as njoyble as the first , though I prefer the 1st ... as it just explodes as the first trac of the album ...

not with a loud boom caused by a synthesiser .. but a soulful cry by kailash kher ...

The definitive trac for the album and no doubt for the movie !

out of 5 i'd give this 4 .. I wud hav given 5 if this was sombody else other than rehman

with A R R we expect this !!!!
