An extremely beautiful place in India which should not be missed at any cost. Snow covered mountain peaks everywhere around you definitely makes you feel very happy and pleasant. Rohtang Pass is something that should not be missed. For adventure lovers, numerous adventure activities are available like skiing, paragliding, white water rafting, zorbing etc. Solang Valley is definitely nice not as great as it was projected to be (maybe its much better in peak winter). For honeymoon couples, the place is worth staying for about 2 nights and 3 days. If you are with family and would like to have fun and frolic spend more time with some breaks in between day long trips. Some tips are available below (few of them are too obvious, I am re-iterating only because they make a huge difference).

a) If you plan for Rohtang trip, schedule at least 3/4ths of a day for that and dont miss it (Probably this would be the best part of your entire trip)

b) There is nothing much to see in Naggar (except a castle and art gallery - I am an avid art lover but I myself could not appreciate the gallery much)

c) For white water rafting, about half a day is required (if you intend to raft through 14 kms i.e., take a long ride)

d) HPTDC office is located right in Mall Road (downtown Manali or center of the town). Every single bit of information can be obtained from here. Maps are also available

e) If you are young, energetic, love nature / adventure and have some additional time plan for Lahaul & Spiti

f) Availability of both pure veg and non-veg food is not too much of a concern unless you are "utlra" orthodox.

g) If you intend to go for paragliding, the better place to it would be on the way down from Rohtang to Manali. About 200-300 feet above Marhi (pronounced as Madih), there is a paragliding operator and charges the same or a little less than the ones in Solang Valley but the flight will last longer and the view from the air stunning. Also your descent is taken video by the same people and they charge about 200 for burning it on CD and given to you instantaneously

h) Kothi is a very nice place. Make sure to stop there for taking beautiful scenic as well as pictures of yourself with those beautiful mountains and rivers as the background

g) DONT GO TO MANALI IN JULY,it is peak rainy season!!

As far as shopping goes, probably only kullu shawls and kesar (kumkuma poo) are only things that are worth buying in Manali. Otherwise, all other items are not exclusive to Manali and hence may not be of best value. If you go to roadside shops bargain heavily (start from 50%).

Last but not the least, have a plesant and great vacation @ Manali
