If you remember the Musical called ''Chess'', (that opened in London in 1989), it was written for the Men who sang in the ABBA Group. Mamma Mia is a Musical about the Women in that Group.
''Mamma Mia'' it was the Music that made this Musical great. I bought the Album shortly after I saw the Musical. The Album I bought is the one with the Original London Cast, (and not the New York Cast).
It was released in October of 2000 by Decca Record Company. It was recorded at the Prince Edward Theatre in London, England.
The Music and Lyrics were written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaneus.

THE PLOT:
Even if you aren't an ABBA fan this is a fantastic Musical.
The Story line is quite simple. Sophie is a young Girl has lived with her Mother, Donna Sheritan, (who is single), and owns a small Hotel on a Greek Island. She is just about to be Married.
One day she decide to read her Mother's Diary to try a see if she can find out who her Father was. To her surprise she finds out that her Mother has had affairs with three Men, (20 years ago). What she doesn't know is that her Mother has no idea who her Father is!
She invited them to her Wedding because she feels that only her Father will accept the invitation. The problems begin when all three Men accept the invitation.
The day before the Wedding Ali and Lisa, (Donna's best Friend), arrive. They once played in a Band together. I'm sure you know that the Music they liked to play were the ABBA hits!
The three Women begin to reminisce about their Rock and Roll Days.
Naturally the three Men appear on the Island the same day. This is when all the fun begins and you will find your self laughing.
MY REVIEW:
The first song is sung by Sophie as she is dreaming, ''A song to sing to help me cope With anything...''
Then we hear her and her friends sing of her problem as she's going through her Mother's Diary when they sing ''Honey, Honey'' and then Donna's own wishes of having a little bit more in when she sings ''Money, Money, Money''
We hear Sophie and her fiance, Sky, sing of their love, ''Thank You For the Music''.
The songs are picked to fit the events. For example the first time we hear the song ''Momma Mia'' it is sung by the Sophie's Mother, (Donna), gets a surprise visit by her one of her old lover and has to face up to the mistakes she made in the past.
There aren't any new songs but all of my favourite songs that ABBA, (this quartet came from Sweden), sang are included in this Album.
My favourite songs are Dancing Queen, Voulez-Vous, Mamma Mia, Our Last Summer and Thank You For The Music.
MY THOUGHTS:
If you love ABBA's Music this Album is a must! So what are you waiting for go buy it!
I highly recommend this Album to you.
I paid $20.00 CAD for this Album. UPC#7314543115226
