Good food for great prices. Review on Mama Mia, Fort, Mumbai

This restaurant specializes in takeaways. Therefore although Mama Mias is situated near Examiner Press Building at Fort it would be difficult to locate. There is no name board displaying 'Mama Mias' or a sign because the owner does not want you to go to the restaurant and have the Pizzas or the burgers. But for people llike me who still want to go to the place and have a bite to eat Mama Mias goes by the name Cafe Regent (which was an Old Irani joint). First Mama Mias was located near the GPO but then a year back they shifted to Fort area. My friend Azim and myself took great pains to locate this restaurant because we used to always love the pizzas with the Tandoori Chicken topping.

Personally I have been to this place so many times that I know one of the partners - Mr.Shafi on a one on one level. The great thing about this place is that the food is fantastic. The pizzas and the burgers are a treat to eat and the prices are wonderful. Imagine getting a 12 inch Pizza for say Rs.100/-. Not only that the quantity is great compared to what you would get anywhere else. What I fail to understand is as to how so much quantity can be given for such less price. My favorite is the 'Chicken Sida Sada' burger. Once I have that burger in the afternoon I can safely have dinner at 10 pm without even feeling remotely hungry. The menu is quite nice and there is lots of variety. The coleslaw salad is also fantastic. I am not much of a food freak but this is one restaurant where you can order a great takeaway and get your moneys worth.

The only flip side is that cleanliness and hygiene is not given much importance and you would not want to see the kitchen. But all in all a great place to order some grub once in a while. A real treat for ones tastebuds. Shafi is also a great guy and treats you like a king if you go to the restaurant.
