Some brief notes....
My first experience with single malt scotch was Glenfiddich. It is a Speyside Malt. Crisp, sweet, versatile and light-hearted whiskey which can be had on almost any occasion. Reasonably priced and worth every cent. If you've never had a single malt scotch then this is the ideal first date.
My second experience with single malt scotch was 12 year Bowmore. It is an Islay malt...very different...not light or sweet like Glenfiddich...salty and heavy smoke with a hint of iodine...incredibly smooth without water or ice...an amazing and complex malt. I'm in love.
Pros : Glenfiddich(inexpensive and sweet) Bowmore(tastes best straight up which is good)
Cons: Glenfiddich(not very complex) Bowmore(complexity may turn some off)
