MTDC Malshej Ghat. Review on Malshej Ghat

Malshej Ghat is a scenic place to visit near Mumbai especially during the rains. The ghats are at their most beautiful avatar. Lots of water falls on the way that too on just one stretch is a real value for the trip. easily doable by car as public transport not very widely available once you reach this place. apart from soaking and enjoying the water falls one can even walk up the hills for some magnificent views of the ghats. be careful about slippery stones and insects, as long as you are wearing comfy footwear with good grip you should be just fine. We just ventured into one of the hills which called us to explore only to lead us to a source of one of the many waterfalls.As you keep climbing up many hills just open us into expanses which reveal some breathtaking views. more fun is actually the sense of achievement that your legs have not jammed by the city life and you can actually walk so much.

Malshej does not have many accommodation options, in fact MTDC is the only option. for its location and price is a steal. I do agree with MTDC issue of service and room service and not so clean rooms etc etc. but this is well compensated by their excellent location. also does not hurt to carry a spare sheet, towel, all out etc etc. Just roaming around the resort's campus gives you plentiful sights and sounds of malshej. However in case you are a kind of traveler who visits a place just to hang out in the resort/ hotel this may not be the place. when we stayed at MTDC karla someone actually inquired if they provides toothbrush paste etc frankly speaking that's asking for too much at MTDC and this place is not where he should be staying

All in all, malshej is a must do for people staying in Mumbai as its a very good break from the drudgery of corporate lives.

A word of caution Sundays are very crowded, lot of people come in big groups for a day just to bathe in the waterfalls, they drink, play v loud music and leave behind paper plates and glasses. FrI - sat of an extended weekend is a good idea.
