Malshej ghat is about 115 kms from mumbai, convenient place to go by car, it takes about 2-3 hrs, roads are pretty good and lot of greenary around. During monsoon it is covered with clouds so drive slowly, though the traffic is less on this route. You may find locals standing on the side selling Jhambuls, and local fruits at very cheap rate. If you plan to stay overnight specially on weekends, it is a must to book in advance. MTDC has a very good resort and situated in a very prime location with lot of scenery around.
Apart from MTDC there is one more hotel little ahead, it is under expansion now. Apart from these two hotels there is no other hotels nearby.
As we did not have booking in advance we did not get rooms in both hotel, so after having food in MTDC restaurant we went ahead to Junnar, which is about 30 kms ahead and got accomodation in a hotel, we stayed there and next day visited Shivneri fort and Lyanderi Ganesh temple which is very near from Junnar.
All through out the route you will find good secenery and lot of mountains and waterfall, weekends it is a crowded place. To have a peaceful stay in malshej select days apart from weekends.
