Malshej Ghat is a Paradise and believe me it I am not at all exaggerating. I have been to several places in India as I am an avid traveler but this place is just too too good.

Around 130 km from Mumbai, this place is too close to a crowded city like Mumbai and one can go and relax at this place. Route- Dadar-Thane-Kalyan-Murbad-Malshej Ghat. There are numerous signboards and you will face no difficulty in reaching this place. I went there on a bike with my friend and it was just too awesome.

Once you cross Kalyan you enter into a different world altogether and the roads are just too good. Moreover you have trees on both sides of the roads and in rainy season the place is all lush green. From Murbad to Malshej Ghat you can get yourself clicked amongst the clouds and enjoy the waterfalls on the way. An amazing place to enjoy with your family, friends.

Once you reach Malshej ghat, there is only one place to stay, MTDC hotel which is at a superb place and believe me you would have never seen such a beautiful scenery. You will not be able to get any rooms there as the place is full and during rainy season there is an advance booking of 2 months. Moreover the hotel is very bad and I would not recommend staying there.

The toilets and rooms are just too too bad. An ideal place for picnic although one can go there with some snacks etc and can have a gem of a time there enjoying the scenic beauty. Although one can have lunch at the Hotel which is quite decent, but to have a true picnic experience one can carry home made food, sandwich, something to drink, playing cards and board games.

The clouds will just engulf you there and you visibility will be reduced to zero. Amazing weather not allow you to leave that place.

Once should reach there in the morning and enjoy the day and by evening one can easily return. Since there are no places to stay, it will be very comfortable to come back.

Also the nearby Shivneri fort which is around 30 km is a waste of time and it dosen’t look like a fort at all. Don’t waste you time going there, rather enjoy at Malshej Ghat. But the way to this fort is just too good.

July and August is the best time to be there and you will not be disappointed.
