''THE MALGUDI DAYS'' by the great R.K.Narayan is the best books that clearly reveals the colourful village life of the indians during the eenglish regime.the lifestyle of the people, their way of livin the way of dressing is clearly shown thru that book.
the book was written and published during the british regime in a small south-indian village in india.it was during those years when the indians were striving hard for freedom.the story has characters mainly a boy named swami born in a simple family.the veteran actor mr.girish karnad had played the role of the swami's father how he makes his family observe discipline and thus make his son know the perfect importance of education.swami's friends in the school includes the one who always carries a brickbat and always ready to beat anyone anytime irrespective of the reason.
his one more friend is the british employee son 'rajam' who just tries to be european by dressin the way as that of the english persons.he was always helpful to swami never made any difference between the rich an dthe porr.such a classic story of swami and his pals r nicely shown in the book.the book achieved so much fame that it was adopted for the telivision and it was a big hit!!!!even today the the serials r shown again and again on various channels and it has also not lost the viewership too.still its a big hit on the idiot box...
