Title: A Day at Malankara Dam: Mixed Bag of Delights
Ventured to Malankara Dam for a quick escape – the waterside park is a gem, perfect for families. Excitement builds with news of an upcoming amphitheater in Muttam-Kanjhar, set to open soon.
The regions of Muttam, Kanjar, and Malankara exude warmth, but the road's potholes were a jarring downside. Managed a distant view of the dam from a high point but, sadly, no vehicle access to the elevated area.
Upon reaching the dam, the no-photography rule was a disappointment. The dam itself, part of the Muvattupuzha Valley Irrigation Project, offers a vast water body spanning 153 square kilometers. A refreshing dip in the water, although cautionary notes for swimmers dampened the experience.
The park, albeit small, caters to children with play areas. The tiled walkway and seating offer a serene view of the calm water, extending to a charming forest. Evening relaxation is unparalleled, but the potential enhancement with an operational amphitheater excites.
Onward to Kudayathur Market and a deserted road to Wagamon, promising snowy meadows. Kids and adults will adore this short trip, but the road conditions and restrictions at the dam warrant consideration. Ideal for a quick stopover in a two-day plan.
