To be honest this is not a review, but just a small PREVIEW of the film.......

The Year 2005 was the year of comedies. Many comedies came out more sucessfull than even romantic and action films. The year saw surprise hits like Kyaa kool hai hum, No Entry and Garam masala. The year 2006 will also see many films promising to be a laughathon.

When it comes to original comic stuffs the name that comes to my mind is none other than Priyadharsan(better known as Priyan among his colleagues). His films rely on situational comedies rather than on double meaning dialogues. He has many highly sucessfull and critically acclaimed comedies like HULCHUL, HUNGAMA, and the most recent hit GARAM MASALA to his kitty.

This year will be really BIG considering the number of releases by big names and banners. MALAMAAL WEEKLY is the most awaited comedy of this year. Going through the past, it promises to be a complete laugh riot. The promos that aired recently looks promising.

The cast of the film comprises of:

Paresh Rawal:As Lilaram, the lottery seller and the only literate person of the village. Paresh Rawal was a major part of any Priyadharsan film from Hungama to Hulchul to Garam Masala.

Om Puri:As Balwant, the milkman who sells milk with more water than milk itself.

Ritesh Deshmukh:As Kanhaiya, the servant at Balwant's house. He faces all the tortures by his master just because he is in love with Balwant's daughter.

Reema Sen:As Sukhmani, balwant's daughter.

The cast includes Rajpal Yadav who is know for his comic dialogues. Arbaaz Khan gives an appearance as the lottery inspector from the city. Rakhi Sawant is having a special appearance in a dance number.

Here is a brief synopsis of the film.

The film is based on the life of people living in a village ridden by poverty, thier struggles to survive. The story revolves around Lilaram(Played by Paresh Rawal) who earns a living by selling lotteries called Malamaal Weekly(and hence the title). One day while watching television, he comes to know that one of the lotteries sold by him had actually won one crore rupees. The funny part is that only Lilaram comes to know of it! why? Becoz..He is the only literate person in the entire village!! Now he wants to get that lottery back from its buyer. He struks with an !dea. Then follows a rollercoster ride with extremely funny and hilarious situations as the entire village want acquire the one crore bumper lottery.

I would recommend this film for all ages who want to have a great time laughing. More over this is one comedy that can be enjoyed with the family.

The film comes with the tag line ''Kiski Lottery Lag Gayi'' and is slated to be released on 10th March 2006.
