Honda Activa and your Spine!

Now this defect can't be corrected in a Catastrophic Vehicle called Honda Activa! I thought this might be helpful to all the Activa users!

Since 5, 00, 000 lac people are ignorant, about a fatal defect in a vehicle called ‘Honda Activa’ and just driving it with blind faith because it comes for Honda. I have to tell to all those guys how it is going to damage their spine forever in the long run by using Activa!

I am not here to preach but to help them and discover themselves with their own Activa, what is defect in an Activa and how to check for themselves about the ‘imbalance’ in this vehicle which tilts towards right side.

First and foremost tools you require for checking this defect for yourselves are observation, sensitiveness and common sense!

  1. Try to see as many Activas as possible, which pass through roads and observe how they move. That is, when you are observing a moving Activa from the rear, whether it is travelling straight or tilting towards left or tilting towards right side?

(My own observation is that, out of every 10 Activas, 7-8 tilt towards right side when observed from rear and they tilts towards your left when observed from the front)

  1. Ride your own Activa without a pillion rider and with a pillion rider(should not be the person sitting with both legs on one side) and try to feel how the Activa is moving on a reasonably plain surface by driving straight. This you can do it where there is no traffic by observing the footboard where you rest your foot and the both sides of the vehicle’s road. That is your left foot and road, and your right foot and the road.

(My experience and observation is that, it only tilts towards right side. We can clearly feel that, because the vehicle tilts forces us to tilts towards right side with the vehicle)

  1. Now on a reasonably smooth surface road where there is no traffic, achieve a speed of 25-kmph(approx.). With pillion rider/without pillion rider, take both of your hands off the handle bar and observe where the vehicle gets tilted, even though it travels straight! You should travel atleast 20-30 feet distance to check this.

(My personal observation is that as soon as you take your hands off the handle bar it starts tilting towards right side. I tried it with numerous Activas, they all tilt towards right side only)

  1. Achieve a speed of, from anywhere between 15kmph-30kmph, takeoff your right hand from the accelerator and now while riding the vehicle only with the left hand, try to maneuver your Activa in long curvatures as the snake moves. Like gradually to left and then to the right in S-type way. Try the same with other vehicles like TVS Scooty, Kinetic Honda and Kinetic Nova(all variable transmission scooters). Observe the difference by comparing.

(When I tried the same I have found that the Activas are very stubborn and rigid while doing this maneuvering and it is tough to do this. Where as this type of driving can be easily done with other above-mentioned vehicles. Any vehicle should tilt accordingly to the movement of the handle but where as in Activas, no matter where you want to maneuver the Activa remains tilted towards right side maximum number of times. You can observe the same thing, on a moving Activa on city roads. When the vehicle is not flexible the effect will be shown on our spines for sure)

  1. Now the ultimate conclusion to know that the Honda Activa tilts towards right side only, by observing the ‘Extra Seat Covers’ which we put to protect the original seat cover.  Try to see in maximum number of Activas where the extra seat cover slides? The original can’t slide anywhere even though the Activa tilts because it is stapled very closely to the fiber seat.

(I have seen and photographed many Activas with a right side slide of the extra seat cover. It only slides towards right side in maximum number of vehicles.  The question is why on Honda Activa only the ‘extra seat cover’ slides towards right side only? And why such ‘extra seat cover’ slide is not there in any other vehicles other than an Activa? Such as in Honda Dio, Honda Eterno, Kinetic Honda, Kinetic Nova!

The conclusion and morale of this information is that sooner or later it is going to damage every Activa user’s spine for sure.

Because when you accelerate and de-accelerate firstly you slide a lot in an Activa, the to and fro moment! And the base of Activas seat is so large that the whole of your seating(buttocks) completely is seated on it. The obvious thing is the more the seating base the more the grip. Please note the effect is very much during de-acceleration(engine braking).

The grip forces your lower body not to slide and the acceleration and de-acceleration makes your upper body(from spine upwards) make to and fro movements against the lower body very much. By this itself we are damaging our spine seating and, very damaging defect is that the Activas tilts towards right side! By this the whole weight of our body shifts towards right side spine region, thus making it more rub/grind the both surfaces of the spine seating. Which will be fatal for our spine and probably will make us immobile and impotent in the long run.

And in general, irrespective of gender we will end up with backache for life.

To confirm this, check for yourself by accelerating and de-accelerating your Activa with your right hand on the accelerator bar and the left hand on the spine region,  where our spine ends.

So the choice is yours. If anybody is a die-hard fan of Activa who is as stubborn and rigid as an Activa and who cares more for Honda than his Spine, for them we all mouthshut guys wish him/her good luck and god bless!

Check these pictures of Honda Activa which I have captured on the streets of my city Hyderabad. Observe the sliding of the seat cover.
