Installing a Remote lock for your bike

Just a piece of advice once again for your new bikes. I had recently installed a remote lock for my new Yamaha Enticer. Let me tell you why you need to install it in the first place. I went to a bank in Mount road, a busy area in Chennai. I parked my bike outside the entrance of the bank and after finishing the transaction I came out(after 20 min) and saw that both the rear-view mirrors went missing. Cursing myself thinking that it was not my day I went to the Yamaha showroom to get another pair. It cost me Rs.400/- for a pair. Still thinking that I was lucky enough that the bike was at least left alone. After fitting the mirrors I came out of the showroom and there I saw a guy locking his Maruti Zen through a remote. I started to think if there was a remote lock for this bike or at least an alarm, maybe my rear-mirrors could have been saved. I went back inside the Yamaha showroom and asked the mechanic guy there if remote could be installed in this bike. To my surprise he told me that it could be installed and they have installed it in many bikes like Eliminator, Pulsar, Karishma, Fiero etc. Usually these fittings are not done at the respective service place. It needs a specialist and there will be one in your city. In my case I got it done in the Pudupet area of Chennai with help of the service guy. Well now to the salient features of this remote. 1.The bike can be switched on or switched off without the need of keys 2.The remote operational range is around 100mts(I tested this) 3.While leaving the bike in a parking place you can arm the remote 4.When someone forcibly tries to move your bike or tries to break the lock or tries to remove any parts the alarm goes on. 5.The remote is programmed for 15 sec of shrill alarm(you could have heard this in the car) after which the alarm switches off itself and starts again if the bike is moved once again. 6.While on the move the engine can be killed by using the remote if the bike is in the radius of 100mts The main advantage is it doesn’t give false alarm if some one just touches your bike, if only your bike is forcibly moved the alarm goes on. Until now I have not got any false alarm and it is also safe for your battery as a direct connection is not taken from the battery but a rectifier is used and also a fuse is provided to safeguard the battery. You can also have fun starting your bike from 100mts and any guy near the bike would start running off, or just see the surprise on the guy’s face. The price of this remote would be around Rs1, 700/-(Rs.300 to be added for labour and other expenses). Please do remember that this installation should be done only through an expert technician who had done similar installation in other bikes. Do not feel that the price is little high. As you are going to invest around 60, 000+ for your new bike, it is worth investing a couple of thousand more. So go and get this installed in your new bike.(There were lot of enquiry for the remote lock and many of you wanted to know the place in Chennai. I am providing the address below. Please note that I am absolutelynot doing this for commercial purpose. My intention in providing the address is to safegaurd your bike.)
