I have Been using dishwasher since last 5 years or more. Maintaining a dishwasher is essential so, it should work properly.
Dishwasher have hoses after sometimes it get loose or become cracked due to which leakage start. The rubber gasket aroung the dishwasher door also may become worn out and loose and it has to be replaced when leakage start. We have to replace it.
Some dishwasher have an air gap on the drain line at the back of sink between the facut and dishwasher. It can get clogged and that can effect performance of the dishwasher. To clear it you need a screwdriver and tweezer.
Pumps on older dishwashers requires you to rinse and scrap plates and utensils before washing them. Otherwise you'd gum up the pump. Pumps on some recently manufactured dishwasher needs those scraps and grease to lubricant them. If you have one of this dishwasher and still clean everything before you load it, your pump will burn out. So, read the manual Before you do great harm.
