Main Tera Hero 1/2: Welcome back to the 90’s. Meet Seenu (Varun Dhawan), the quintessential hero, who is actually quite the devil. His hinterland histrionics follow him to the big town college where he falls in love at first sight with Sunaina (Ileana), who has also caught the fancy of a rogue possessive policeman (Arunoday Singh) with anger issues.
But amidst this college drama, another triangle emerges when a dreaded (read funny) Thailand mafioso’s (Anupam Kher) only daughter Ayesha (Nargis Fakhri) falls for Seenu’s boyish good looks and rippling muscles.
Varun Dhawan fills up every frame of his father’s rip-roaring laugh-a-thon with his genetic skills to charm the audience. He has a no-holds barred penchant for comedy that is dangerously close to Salman, but thankfully far funnier. 2 films later Nargis Fakhri is just as bad, Ileana is bearable.
It’s a remake of a Telugu film Kandireega, so don’t get too impressed by the screenplay. Although, what makes this film hilarious are Milap Zaveri’s dialogues. Sajid-Wajid’s music bears the trademark thump reserved for David Dhawan films.
Watch it preferably at a single screen with the audience who will religiously react to a new hero in the making.
