Rajshri Productions _ the name spelt sheer Granduer in terms of sets,stories, costumes, starcast,music n yup the moolah it raked in.It stood for good quality cinema, simpale yet very heartfelt films, stories of bhaiya-bhabhi’s,Mama-mami’s,Parathas n Laddoos.It meant 3 hours of fun,frolic n yup loads of tears too but hey what the hell man that is wat life is all about right?which is why I was looking forward to ‘ Main Prem ki Diwani hun’ coz it was a while since I saw a ‘ feel Gud abt life’ film. And wat did I see it was the same old Methi Parata but then laced with probably ‘olives n paprika’ I mean a whole new Yuppie look.
Sanjana(Kareena) is ur normal Indian girl who doesn’t quite believe in the ‘ Ladki dekhna’ business .She absolutely detest the fact that a NRI is cuming over to do the same but guess what ?Enter the eternal Charmer Prem(hrithik) and with his nonstop(irritating) banter,and his (sickly sweet )charm wins her entire family n friends over. She falls headlong for him and he strongly reciprocates his love. But then comes the catch _ it is a case of mistaken Identity ..It is infact his Boss Mr. Ritchie Rich Prem Kumar(ABhishek) who is supposed to do the ‘immigration” of sanjana as his wife ‘ saat samandar paar. After some terribly disoriented scenes , all is well that ends well.
Okie abt the story the lesser said the better.The casting well we have none of the Rajshri
Usuals with the exception of Rita bhaduri n Himani Shivpuri.Kareena as Sanjana looks a dream but then kareena ji ‘ Muje Kuch Kehna hai’ aapse , plz kindly look beyond the ‘ chhodiyan n kangna’ and toda bahut acting karne ka kasht karenge?as for Hrithik,probably u shd share sum of ur ‘overly’ tremendous acting skills with Miss.kapoor, plz tone down a bit if u want us to say’ you are my soniya’.
AAAH!Mr. Abhishek, aap is movie main aaye ‘ Refugee’ ki tarah but then at the end Main appki deewani hun. He simply stole the show with his dignified, silent yet powerful impact.I am terribly sorry My co-PFA friends but the animals the dog n the parrot were irritating. Annu Malik’s music a total letdown. On the whole, ‘ Main Prem Ki Deewani Hun’ , I am sure we are all ’ Hum Saath Saath Hai ‘ in saying after this film sooraj ki fimon se kal tak ‘ maine payar kiya’ that pur ab” sooraj , Hum apke hai koun? “
