By nature, I always look out for something different in anything. I'm not a fan of run-of-the-mill stuff in most spheres of life. The same goes for movies. I hardly watch em, but if I do, it HAS to be something different from the normal. The movie Main Meri Patni Aur Woh attracted me because a few years back, for a short period of time, I was unfortunately in the shoes of Akash(K.K Menon), who is the woh in this movie. Ofcourse, I wouldnt say ditto same situation, but it was more or less the same. Anyway, this reason and the fact that it was a different theme for the movie, made me watch it. And I am glad I did.

The title itself gives away the plot of the movie to a certain extent. To add a little more to it, the story is about an average looking simpleton(Rajpal Yadav) who is happy the way his bachelor life is, complete with his chalta-hai scooter, bachelor pad and all-male friends. However, he ends up yielding to pressure from his family and travels to see a girl just for the sake of pleasing them. Once he gets there, sees her, and talks to her, he realizes by himself the warmth and radiance that a girl can give him - for friendship or otherwise, and gets smitten. Ofcourse, the girl (Rituparna Sengupta) is simply beautiful, and cannot be compared to our heros plain looks. But that is the whole point of this movie!

Obviously, they get married(or else how would the movie progress yaar) and then the fun starts. As expected, his wife starts attracting unwanted attention from every corner possible, thanks to her graceful, charming looks and personality and soon, our hero starts his self induced trip to becoming a zero by starting to doubt literally anyone who talks to his wife. Thats where our ''woh''- Akash enters..and the rest, you have to watch yourself : )

Rajpal Yadav is an absolute delight to watch, he is an amazing actor. I've been his fan for quite a while now, and no matter how small or big a role he gets, he completes it to perfection.

Rituparna Sengupta I have not seen before, but she has done very well for herself, and I'm sure anyone watching this movie will get atleast a little smitten by her, just like our hero did in the movie! By the way, did anyone notice a barely noticeable tear like thing at the tip of her nose? I think its a unique birthmark!

Varun Badola (Salim, in the movie) has done a good job of his character in being the unwanted pest in the movie.

K.K Menon plays his sophisticated, sauve lean-mean love machine character with ease.

Naseeruddin Shah doing the initial and final voice over, takes good care of luring us into this story and leaving us with happy thoughts..

I have never seen Lucknow, or for that matter UP, in real or in any Bollywood movie so far, and this movie really showed this place well. Being the travel nut I am, I really want to visit this place soon! This movie, as an added bonus also has a few nice songs which will juggle in your head for awhile.

Director Chandan Arora has created a beautiful movie here. So instead of just reading reviews on it, you should go watch it now!
