''Once in a while there comes a movie that changes everything'' cried hoarse the promos, peaking the expectations that the audience had with the debut director and the SRK combination. I recall in one of the promo interviews SRK went overboard and compared the finished product to none other than the SHOLAY. This ofcourse caught attention of gullible audience like me who expected some true sparks of creativity in the movie.

The story has the usual share of the perfect (Army) hero(SRK) and the (ex army- court martialed) villian(reminiscent of KHAKEE) with an aim to play havoc with the ''operation milap'', conceived by Kabir Bedi and in the long run hinder the Indo Pak ties, ofcourse due to some personal grudge nothing to do with deshbhakti. Nothing new there!

SRK has nothing new to offer and plays the role of a perfect army officer, who is all out to save his country and keep the word that he has given to his dying father (Naseruddin Shah, a waste in such a minor role). He has to do the last rites of his father alongwith his soutela brother (Zayed) & souteli Mother Kiron Kher.

Zayed is studying in a college which stresses more on colourful attires and dancing/singing session rather than the curriculum. Nothing new there. He is paired alongwith Amrita Rao (Ishq Vishq girl) who is still has a long way to go. The college scenes seem to inspired by the Archie style gags. The Mr Weatherbee-style- school principal role has been enacted well by Boman Irani, who brings a breath of fresh comedy whenever he enters the frame. He is well supported by the saliva spitting Satish Shah and the male crazy-sweater knitting Bindu.

Sushmita got little opportunity to show her polished acting skills though we get to see a lot of her ravishing figure!

The movie has got a couple of RD BURMAN remixes to lift the banal musical score by Anu Malik. The action background music smells heavily of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE soundtrack.

The action sequences are too unbelievable and are heavily inspired from, MATRIX. Check out the rickshaw chasing a 4WD and I am still unable to comprehend how SRK managed to his brother by hanging from the flagpole rope.

In the end we get the usual MASALA MIX devoid of any originality but a hybrid of the best of hollywood & bollywood cinemas. I feel being a debut movie Farah has tried to please all the sections of the Janta but I am sure she has better truly creative in her kitty which we may get to see in the future and which may finally change everything!
