I know my rating is pretty low for this movie. But believe me I had high hopes from this movie, considering that someone like Farah Khan was holding the directorial baton. Even granting that it was her maiden venture, having seasoned actors such as Shahrukh, Sush, Naseer, Kiron you still end up with such a trashy movie is really really unpardonable.......

I belong to that category of people who believes that the excellence of a movie really depends on the director and the talent that he/she has. The actors in the movie do not spoil the movie, it is upto the director to really extract their talent and a wonderful performance from them.

My disappointment with the movie started right from the first few minutes into the movie, when Naseer gets killed and calls out to Shahrukh........ Come on that's his dad dying, was it just me or did everyone feel that Shahrukh's expression at that moment was really deadpan and absolutely devoid of emotion. Ok. A mistake but shouldnt the director not ok the shot and have a retake...... And then comes up the scene where Kabir Bedi asks Shahrukh to go to Darjeeling to guard his daughter.

Come on......... an army guy is asking his best officer to go and do his personal errands. That too when he himself says that Operation Milaap is very important for the country, so shouldn't the director have shown that Kabir Bedi instructs his best officer to take care of the operation and not worrying about the safety of his daughter, his patriotic feelings rising above that of personal relations. Thats what makes our armed forces great isnt it? And then its one boring scene after another. Sometimes the movie appears to get interesting but then Farah loses her grip immediately. I gave up about 30 mins into the second half. I couldnt take it anymore.

Take my suggestion avoid this movie, unless you are a hardcore Shahrukh fan or a Zayed fan (if there is one in this world)

In short-------

the storyline - very very predicatable, I am surprised people have called it original.....

the acting - very low calibre, very mediocre, Shahrukh is tolerable, Zayed is atrocious (I hope he gives up acting for his own good and for our good as well), Amrita is ok, Sush is non-existent (which is an insult to her acting abilities), Naseer is wasted.

the comedy - if you call the spitting acts of Satish Shah and the MAN-handling by Bindu as comedy, then the target audience probably was the juvenile audience.

the music - is ok, not too great, have heard some really great stuff from Anu Cinematography - is Ok

Action - is hilarious........ when will Bollywood getover its Matrix hangover. aping the Hollywood doesnt exactly make Bollywood more slick and technically advanced. Give me Bollywood action anyday for such stupidly imitated action scenes.

Choreography - considering it was Farah Khan's directorial debut I had expected some ''out of the world'' choreography. But was very very very disappointed. Routine run of the mill stuff. again strengthens my point that its the director's vision that turns out a great movie. So if Farah khan's choreo was great in other movies, it wasnt just because of her talent (which she obviously has in loads), but it was in the ability of the director to extract it from her....

In essence, one wasteful 22 crore expenditure. Khan can afford it. But next time he can probably try funding a good director with talent (who is not related/connected to him) and avoid casting himself in the title role. Maybe it will turn out to be one of those great movies and immortalize him as well in the annals of cinema, rather than making such monumental blundering movie................... During the next two weeks I plan to watch Minaxi, Maqbool, Krishna Cottage, Shaadi ke laddoo and Masti. I hope at least one of them turns out to be a good fun entertaining movie. Take care

P.S. I have chosen Watch this movie with - Alone bcos I am sure you care for your family, spouse, friends and date that you wouldnt want to inflict on them this sort of torture that you are taking on yourself...........
