After all, it has been produced by and stars Shahrukh Khan-who is known as the ?badshaah? of Bollywood.More than that,this is the debut directorial venture of the talented choreographer Farah Khan. This film is said to have everything, which an Indian viewer wants,it has emotions, comedy, action, romance and the hottest issue which is the good relationships between India and Pakistan.Overall, it`s a typical Bollywood movie but these days, everyone wants something different and not the typical stuff,so will ?Main Hoon Na? still work? THE FILM:
Red Chillies and Venus production`s ?Main Hoon Na?, directed by Farah Khan, stars Shahrukh Khan,Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Suniel Shetty, Naseerudin Shah, Kiron Kher, Boman Irani, Bindu and Satish Shah. Shahrukh Khan`s last films have been very successful, like ?Chalte Chalte? and ?Kal Ho Naa Ho? . Will he recreate his magic,again?Surely,he will!
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Major Ram Prasad Sharma(Shahrukh Khan):He is the one who is going back school,this summer. Major Ram Prasad Sharma,got a mission ready through which India and Pakistan can have good relationships,but Raghavan is acting as an interferer. Circumstances, bring him to such a situation,that he has to go back to a college, as a student. Shahrukh Khan- the name says it all.His films are watched by everyone, even if he/she is not his fan. As usual, SRK does nothing new this time and I don`t mind it, because he said this thing on an interview, that he won`t do something different. He does an excellent job, this time. His performance is much better, here than in ?Kal Ho Naa Ho?,where he was getting irritating. This time he seems more simple and decent. He lives the main role of this film and if he says ?Main Hoon Na?, then don`t worry, he won`t let you down!
2.Raghavan(Suniel Shetty):Raghavan is the villain of this film. He doesn`t want Major Ram Prasad Sharma to accomplish his mission and he wants to harm a girl Sanjana. Suniel Shetty is very good, as the villain of the film. Don`t be surprised if he is the villain, because he has played negative roles previously also,in ?Baaz-A Bird in Danger? and ?Rudraksh?. Also, don`t mind if he is sporting long hair,in this film. It is a weird look, but it`s all up to the hair stylists.Coming to his performance,he does his job well. I'm sure that he will never leave speaking Hindi in English accent and now I have no complaints about it, as well. At least,he has done his job, well, without going over the top!
3.Chandni(Sushmita Sen):Chandni is the sexiest teacher on this earth. If she is in the class, then who will want to bunk the class.Of course,nobody but the problem is-will the student concentrate on her beauty or on Chemistry(the subject she teaches)? Sushmita Sen looks gorgeous,in this film.I used to think that she will not make that much of a good pair with SRK because she`s tall and he`s short.She`s calm and he`s hyper.She works in films like ?Samay-When Time Strikes? and he works in films like ?Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge?.She is Ms.Universe and he is Mr.Bollywood.But I was wrong.She shares a very good ?CHEMISTRY? with SRK on-screen.Although,she has no such dramatic scenes and nor is her role so emotional,still she makes her presence felt.After impressing us in ?Samay? and ?Paisa Vasool?,she is equally impressive in this film,too.She has a long way to go.Check out for her future releases!
4.Lucky Laxman(Zayed Khan):Lucky Laxman,is cool,someone very youthful and energetic.He is like any other normal college boy and possesses all those qualities which one college going guy has.Zayed Khan has improved a lot over his last performance in his debut film ?Chura Liya Hai Tumne?.He looks what he plays and he plays what he looks,wonderfully.He looks a bit strange with those long hair,but hey,he had to have that look on him.His dialogue delivery is very strong and his face expressions are very natural.With SRK,never does he let you feel as if he is unable to match him.Good job!
5.Sanjana(Amrita Rao):Sanjana is a tom boyish kind of a character.She is good at sports,she is carefree but she is still in danger.Oh yes!She also loves the ?oh-so-cool guy?,Lucky Laxman.Amrita Rao is getting success from everywhere,these days.First,?Ishq Vishk?,then ?Masti?,were her two hit films and this one will be included I the list,as well,hopefully.She is amazing,this time and the best thing is that she gets lots of scope to display her talent and she impresses the viewers.With stars like SRK or Sushmita,she makes her own position and stands apart!Her performance is something to look out for,in this film.This film will bring lots of success to this young and talented actress!
The others are excellent,as well.Naseerudin Shah as Brigadier Shekhar Sharma/SRK`s father has a small role,but makes the best use of it.Kiron Kher as Zayed`s emotional mother is brilliant,as she was in ?Devdas?.Bindu as the teacher who doesn`t speak English well,is cute.Satish Shah is hilarious as the professor,who spits,whenever he opens his mouth.Boman Irani as the principal,is again fantastic after his amazing performance in Munnabhai M.B.B.S.
THE STORY:
The story revolves around Major Ram Prasad Sharma,who is the protagonist of this film,as well.He has prepared a mission called Mission Milaap,which will result in friendly and peaceful relationships between India and Pakistan.No one has any kind of objection with this mission except for a terrorist, Raghavan.
He doesn`t want this peaceful movement to see the light of its day.Being a terrorist,he has the life of a college going student Sanjana,under threat.Sanjana is the daughter of General Amarjeet Bakshi.Raghavan is after Sanjana who studies in a college.So as long as Raghavan is around the college,Sanjana`s life is in danger.In order to protect her,Major Ram Prasad Sharma goes to the college,as a student.Then,all the fun begins. He is senior to other boys and all the witty students address him as an UNCLE,in the college.
After sometime,he makes friends there and life is all about fun.There he becomes the friend of Lucky Laxman and of course,Sanjana.There he makes fun of all the funny teachers and there he dreams looking at his sexy Chemistry teacher,Chandni.But will it help him,anyway to complete his mission?Raghavan comes to the college,as a teacher.Will Ram be able to get Sanjana out of all dangers?What will happen,further?
