Hey,
First of all I am gonna state two incidents which occur coincidently with me and my friend. It was Dec'15 and my dad finally planned to go for Nissan Terrano, but I was not ready to go with his decision, so I made a small presentation with each and every minute details of comparing both the vehicles(Nissan Terrano vs. Mahindra XUV500). Finally, he was convinced to go for Mahindra XUV500 which indeed was a better bet than Nissan Terrano in all terms(as you get a seven seater and more luxurious vehicle with tons of features by just spending a few bucks more!).
Same thing happened with one of my college friend, his dad too decided to go for Renault Duster and finally ended up with Mahindra XUV500. So in all terms it is a better bet in terms of price, features, power with just a little bit to spend more(seriously, one must go for it if you don't want to compromise and invest in the best).
PROS: 1) very nice handling(no stress in traffic) 2) smooth and refined engine 3) monocoque chasis(car like suspension feel) 4) anti roll bars(does works while turning at high speeds!) 5) ABS+airbags(standard even in the base variant)
CONS: 1) clutch pedal(you really need to push it down a long way) 2) mileage(totally depends on how much it runs) 3) plastic quality(inside its fine but outside its not)
I drive this beast too often and yeah it has a massive street presence and a great head turner. The one besides you will definitely give you the way ahead. Few tips I am going to share for the best running and maintenance of this vehicle:
-Try to maintain 90 kmph in 5th gear for best mileage.
-Never try to accelerate hard when driving after a while or after sometime.
-Never put you foot over the clutch pedal and avoid unnecessary use of it.
People with a budget of 14 lakhs+, crave for power and performance and reliability should definitely consider this vehicle as an option. Hope this helps!
Bon voyage!
