I have seen the XUV, and had a test drive of the same.  Indeed it is a class apart from the SUVs in the country, when the features and price are compared.

This is quite comfortable, as a self-driven vehicle and can accommodate 5 passengers, at ease and beyond 5 it is congesting and not supported by the design.

The design, features and effort behind the vehicle are highly appreciable, however, as in many Indigenous manufacturing, the final presentation especially; a few aspects of the interior and the rear end design needs refinement.  I did not feel happy about the plastics, which curtails a feeling of richness inside.

The mileage claimed is in par with good SUVs of the time.  The engine could be a little more silent to match international standards.

The drive and response were good but could not be tested for breaks and stability in extreme situations.

Looking into the features, convenience, comfort and safety offered for 5 passengers, this design is applaudable and can be a matter of pride for Indians.

I would rate the vehicle 4out of 5 as of now and would like to purchase the same and be a part of this proud venture of Mahindra.  I am sure that Mahindra will rectify these inadequacies and offer the benefit of such rectifications to their pioneer customers as well.

One of the major points of discredit in the business transaction process by Mahindra on its XUV is its unholy involvement in providing insurance to its customers.  Many a places the dealers make it mandatory that the insurance should be procured through them.  In Chennai they did not insist on a binding on insurance transaction, however they made it clear that there will not be any cashless settlement unless done through them.

We would like to point out that Mahindra is a Giant in its automobile technology and we wish to see them excel in their performance there.  If at all Mahindra involve in Insurance, on their vehicles, it should be as a supportive process and a service.  The customers should benefit out of the same, rather than paying a premium 30 to 40% more than what is available in the market. No doubt, many Automobile Manufacturers in this country involve in such unholy practice and the IRDA acts blissfully unconcerned.

I feel that the Chairman of Mahindra, himself has to involve in this and set the organizational values conducive to its customer interest.
