I am used to of changing vehicles very often . From 2008 to nov2013 I hav changed or exchanged about 13 vehicles viz. swift diesel sx4(2 cars) fiat linea, nano, chevy cruze, chevy beat, alto800, xuv500 Finally now I own chevy cruze automatic, beat diesel, XUV500w8 . XUV is my first SUV I BAUGHT IT IN FEB 2013.AT 2900KMS I WAS AT HILLS OF MUSSORIE WITH MY FAMILY ON 8THJUNE I FOUND CLUTCH PADEL LYING FLAT AT FLOOR.
NOW I TRIED TO MOVE IT WITH MY HAND IT CAME BACK AND WORKED WELL I DROVE BACK TO GURGAON 400KMS. BUT CLUTCH WAS HARD . I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER STERLING MOTORS GURGAON. THEY TOLD ME CLUTCH PLATES AND PRESSURE PLATES FLY WHEEL NEED TO BE REPLACED. BILL WAS RESPECTED UNDER WARRANTY . I REALLY FEEL CHANGING CLUTCH UNDER WARRANTY IS REALLY GREAT BY A COMPANY AND ITS DEALER AS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS A REASON THEY DID THAT FAVOR BECAUSE they were aware that a vehicle done 2900km should not have a burnt clutch due to careless driving.
Off course a first time driver cannot drive a vehicle of size magnanimity of xuv. Though my holiday got spoiled due to my vehicles unreliable position how a person having all family members struck in a hill station could have felt. Still people at Mahindra and dealer were very caring. At 4400 km I found a engine management system sign was glowing on screen I took vehicle to dealer because service at 5000 was also near they told me some snag at rely is there and they replaced the faulty part. Now after 5600 kms vehicle is doing good. First service costed me just 3000Rs inclusive of engine oil fuel filter etc. I found even alto800 first service costs more. My conclusion is:
DRIVING XUV500 ON ALL TYPE OF ROADS IS PLEASURABLE.
SEVEN PEOPLE CAN SIT AND TAKE a journey of 400kms this is my first hand experience.
COST OF SERVICE AN SPARES IS LOW AND WIDELY AVAILABLE.
Xuv500 has features which merc and BMWS HAVE. At THIS PRICE.
WE HAVE TO DIGEST THE SNAG COMING IN WAY BECAUSE mahindra at the moment cannot compete with standard of QUALITYTESTS IN HONDA TOYOTA.
6. OVERALL XUV500 IS THE BEST INDIAN VEHICLE ON ROAD IN SUV SEGMENT.
WE CANNOT COMPARE IT WITH CHEVY CAPTIVA TOYOTA FORTUNER BECAUSE THEY ARE PRODUCTS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE AND OFF COURSE MAHINDRA AS A MANUFACTURER CANNOT COMPETE WITH THEM AT THIS PRICE. YES XUV500 IS FAR BETTER THEN TATA SAFARI RENAULT DUSTER FORD ECOSPORT ETC. ADVICE* MAHINDRA NEED TO FREE THE VEHICLE WITH INTIAL QUALITY PROBLEMS.
