I update to my review after 2 years and 30,000 KMS.

Its still going strong no issues with the basic engine or even the doors creaking or something.

I have had issues though. The clutch had to be repaired since it had started failing and I could not change the gear. Some kind of leakage which damaged it. I got it repaired under warantee.

The shockers had to be replaced due to bad bangalore roads and the fact that I moved the vehicle from Delhi to Bangalore (via a truck). Again covered under warantee.

My second paid service came to about Rs 5000/ since the brake pads had to be replaced (at Rs 2500/-)

I am very satisfied with this vehicle and have many sweet memories in these 2 years of 2 (or sometimes even 3) families travelling together to 300-500 KM. We once even had 5 kids(2yrs to 9 years) sleeping in the back (I have a 9 seater) where we had made a big bed on top of all the luggage.

Its a great vehicle if you have a big joint family or love to drive some distance with friends.

I am not your serious off roader trying to climb hills etc. so I cant comment on the offroading.

But you do feel safe while going for long drives in a Scorpio. I recently did a Chennai to pondicherry trip on a Maruti zen an I can tell you I was scared as hell after a Scorpio.

The bugs that still remain - Yes the steering vibrates if you drive at 130-140 kmph(They did replace the bearing in the steering column after I complained but I need to check havent driven at that speed)

Yes the car still gets overheated if you are doing stop go in a traffic Jam with the AC on.

Milage -is 9-10/13 city/long drives

My earlier review ''Bugs still need ironing'': Jun 2003.

I bought the Scorpio DX about 3 months back. (It is the 2003 model - which has the brakes and handling sorted - and I can vouch for that) Its a dream for looks and handling and acceleration. But there seem to be some small things which still need to be ironed out. Firstly the quality of the plastic tacks that have been used for the door trims is poor. So if you try to get your stereo or autocop fixed a few will need to be replaced. There is an overheating problem for stop and go traffic. There were also a lot of small issues that other owners had : my temperature gauge sensor stopped working The oil was leaking for another owner - since the packing was loose The AC compressor had to be replaced for 2-3 cars It seems the quality control of M&M is getting relaxed and they need some input from the owners.
