Worth Buying New Muscular Scorpio. Review on Mahindra Scorpio

I bought this beast(Scorpio SLE) on 28th Oct 2009 from Army Canteen Jallandhar, got Rs 80000 off. Drove down to Delhi, first experience, When I pushed the accelerator, this monster roared and in no time I was touching 120KPH. Great experience

Pros: -

1. Engine: - It has Mhawk 2.2 liters engine which is more refined than the previous versions. Though they have decreased the power from 2.6 liters to 2.2 liters but have increased the torgue which has resulted in great pickup. Earlier 2.6 liters engine used to give 110bhp but now 2.2 liters engine gives out 120bhp power. which is awesome.

2.Suspension: - Much better than earlier versions, the pot holes dosent seems to exist anymore. It has wide tyres which will keep the potholes away.

1. Looks: - Looks great with all new features, like the fog lamps, new head lamps, on the back there is very goodlooking foot rest to clim into the rear seats. New ORM on the driver side.

   
   




2. Handling: - Great handling touched 150kph and braked ABS worked well, can maneuver around very quickly in heavy traffic.

   
   

Cons: -

1. Service Center: - Prior to scorpio I had Honda City ZX, I was foolish enough to compaire the after sales service with mahindra. There is on word for the service "PATHETIC". I took Scorpio for the first service in Setrling Motors in Gurgaon. Firstly I called for an appointment(that'z how its done in honda) the lady said the they cant accept the car as the booking is full. But i had to get the servicing done, took my car and reached Sterling Motors. The manager accepted my car for the first service. The attendent Mr Yashpal Yadav, he was in all praise of TATA Safar Dicor. I thought i might have enetered TATA service center. He gave thousand reason to dislike scorpio and like Safari. At once I thought i have commited a blunder by buying Scorpio. RPM of my car was high so asked them to fix it but the issue still stands. I was supposed to get the delivery by 6 in the evening as the claimed that with within 3 hours they will give me car back. but that was not the case with me. They(Service Center) calimed that the lock on the rear door is faulty so they cant give the delivery on the same day. Somebody ask them I havent inserted key in the rear door not even once, how can it craete a problem. But later i realised that they have taken more veichles for servicing than there capabilty. So they were not able to give the vehicle back on time. I even wonder that whether they have sericed my car or not. I asked them to tighten a particular screw, which they didnt even touched. But when they made the bill, the bill was for INR3200, so dude what Free in the first service. They changed the oil as well. Sombody ask them, why do they have to change the oil and oil filter in just 3 months and 5000kms. Pathetic service. I was so frustrated that didnt evn chekced my car paid them and brought my car home.

   
   




2. Cheap plastic: - Cheap Plastic used on the das board and every where in the car.

   
   

FINAL VERDICT

Always I loved the car irrespective of the cheap palstics and pathetic service centers. I would recommed this car to everybody, if you can go to a service center you trust.

Enjoyed everybit of driving Scorpio.

P.S: - Didnt get hold of VLX model other wise this review would have been even longer.
