I was using a scorpio T2, 2003 model for 3 years and sold it in 2006 as it breaks down often when it reached 1, 00, 000Km.
After 3 years last month I decided to buy a VLX Automatic under the impression that the new model is a lot better than my old one. But I was mistaken.
Poor turning radius:- I have to take a U turn in front of my house to get on to the main road, and this vehicle never turn it in on go! I have to stop the traffic to turn every morning. So every morning I listen bad words from other motorists .I don’t know why this vehicle needs large area to turn…I never had problems with my Scorpio T2, Tavera Neo, Maruti Baleno and maruti ZEN.
From the day of purchase I am listening rattling sounds all over. I thought it was because of the folded third row seat but nothing to secure it. Later I found that the left side Ski –rack was not bolted at the back end, and right side ski- rack was loose but bolted. Called the TVS service helpdesk but they said I have to bring the vehicle to their workshop, which is 100Km from home. So I called a local mechanic and fixed all loose nuts and bolts. PDI from TVS Trivandrum is great!
The driver side door bounces back(intermittent) when we try to close. I have to slam it with extra force, …………….Better carry a piece of rope to fix this from the 15th day of purchase ….
The powered ORVMS, The switches are of substandard had made piece of plastic.
The steering causes itching and found fungi on it, this happened on the first drive. Had to meet a skin specialist. A close look on the steering was shocking. The steering rubber or plastic is corroded and looks like it’s been used for a year or so.
Access to the third row seats are only through the left had side of the vehicle. We are able to fold the right hand side seats in second row, but it will not give enough room for a normal person. Only Kids can go through the right hand side.
You are going to listen a disgusting announcement during the first start on every day. But due to some electric problems it is not active on some days,
The audio system: The sound quality is very poor .

I have done 15000Km with this vehicle now .
After 13, 000 KM, the automatic Transmission was behaving erratically with violent jerks on shifting from N to D or from N to R. Also I feel vibrations as if I am driving on a gravel road while in reality I am driving on a smooth road. I took it to the Service center; TVS Trivandrum. There was a "retrofit" where they changed some of the metallic pipes that carry AT transmission fluid to different ones. After the retrofit they charged me 6800/RS and did not give a detailed receipt. I asked for one but they said it will come to my address by post.
After “retrofit” the jerking on smooth road was gone but last week when I start the vehicle the gear lever stuck in park position ….I am not able to change the gear ….
Contacted TVS again and returned the vehicle to their workshop. Found the gear lever switch was bad, they replaced the switch and issue of the gear selector switch is fixed now.
BUT
After that visit to dealer, again I feel violent jerks while the gear shift automatically. Also feels that vehicle’s speed(or RPM) ramps up automatically on 2nd gear ….Called the techs in TVS Trivandrum again and they asked me to bring the vehicle again to their workshop. They suspect a programming error and like to keep the vehicle for 2-3 days …. Also they need to drive my vehicle around 200 Km to test the issue ….
Looks like the dealer drive more miles than I use the vehicle now.
Anyway I did not get time to return the vehicle to the dealer yet .
